IT’S BEEN ANOTHER BUSY YEAR FOR KNITSLEY

..and Christmas is on the way! O

ver the last 12 months we have continued to experience a phenomenal response from our customers and our community. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our customers for their continued and loyal support. Early in 2011 we achieved success at a national level once more, and we were honoured with the prestigious ‘Best New Farm Shop in the UK’ awarded to us by the Farmers and Rural Markets Association (FARMA). In late September 2011 we were notified that we had become finalists in two categories ‘Best on farm Butchery’ and ‘Best Farm Retailer’. We also achieved highest commendation for the ‘Taste Durham Awards’. Our pork pies and dry cure bacon achieved us a gold star in the Great Taste Awards hosted by the Guild of Fine Foods. This month we are proud to have won the ‘Taste of the North East’ category in the North of England Tourism awards. Since last Christmas we have continued to grow by further expanding our range of products in the butchery, deli, and bakery in order to offer a greater and more interesting choice. Despite this era of high food inflation we have endeavoured to keep prices as realistic as possible, partially due to our low transport costs by sourcing as many products as possible from our local community and naturally our home farm.

The ever popular Granary Cafe continues to grow in its range, and quality of food on offer, and our award winning breakfast and Sunday Roast Lunch can now be booked in advance. The farm continues to be committed to high quality production for the shop. Our lambing and calving went very smoothly this spring with great weather to help give the lambs the best of starts. Hay time and harvest were delayed this year again due to poor summer weather but we have manage to secure sufficient winter fodder for the livestock. Typically the weather turned glorious just after we battled to get the harvest in! Laddie has had another fabulous summer being ‘spoilt with affection and titbits’ in the courtyard, by those customers who managed to eat alfresco and dodge the showers! This year promises to be another great Christmas and we will be offering you superb meat and poultry of very high quality, homemade pork pies, and amazing Christmas cakes and quality hampers. We hope you enjoy your shopping experience this year and we hope to see you on the 22nd – 24th December for your glass of mulled wine and a homemade mince pie.

HOW TO PLACE YOUR CHRISTMAS ORDER Christmas is a time to enjoy and relax, so we’ve made it as stress-free and pleasurable as possible. Take the stress out by placing an order to ensure you get all your Christmas dinner ingredients (vegetables cannot be pre-ordered but we’ll have plenty so don’t worry!)

Placing your order is easy: 1) Fill in your contact details on pages 2 & 3, ensuring you state your name and contact number in case of a query. 2) Shop away at your leisure, following the instructions. 3) Bring pages 2 – 5 into the shop, give them to a member of the team at the tills when you pay your £15 deposit, the remaining balance is payable on collection of the order. 4) You keep page 2 as your receipt (please remember to bring this with you on the day of collection) If you would like any assistance then please ask one of our helpful team in the farm shop or call 01207 592059 Any items not mentioned on the order form can be purchased from the shop as normal.

Please return your order ASAP. Preferably before 5th December 2011. Remember you will automatically be entered into a prize draw!
