I hope that every father had an outstanding day full of joy and getting a little unusual spoiling also. It is so nice to get a little special treatment once in a while! I was blessed with a meat smoker, which was a great blessing, as my old one finally gave up after 11 years of use. Lunch involved a smoked brisket and quick lunch, followed by the sending off Mom and MaKenna camp. Very nice really! July 22, 2014 ~ Volume 68 ~ Issueto29 Have you ever considered the great privilege it is to be a father? On one hand, there are many men who have not, for some reason, had the ability to have children. Some have had them and are unable to be in their lives. Some are just selfish and refuse to invest into anyone but themselves, and yet others who take the task of being Dad very seriously. The beautiful and difficult reality is that all men will be judged for what we do with what God has given us. Choosing to invest into our children is a privilege worthy of our time and investment. If a person wants to drive, they must study for a test, and a license is issued if the test is passed. To become a businessperson, one must get some experience before anyone will hire you. Yet to become a father, little to nothing is required. When it comes to being a good father, one must make an effort to learn what a healthy father looks like in order to raise our children right. Our young men and young women have different needs that must be met by dad in order for them to have a healthy childhood. The truth is that there is no one size fits all approach to raising children. Each child is different and requires a different upbringing to keep from squelching out the lovely spirit God has blessed them with. This is a difficult thing to accomplish in this busy world. Our time is nearly always “not enough,” and because of that, our children often think we are too busy for them. This is a travesty in our country today! Because they spend more time with being invested into by other people than you. What do you suppose will happen when a disagreement occurs between you and your child? Especially on deep moral topics, I find children siding with the people who influence them more heavily. If this is a teacher, pastor or close friend who holds the same moral values, then perhaps they will influence your child in the same direction as you. What if this influence on your child is not in agreement with your moral standing? Will your child side with you or this other person? I fear that many of our relationships with our children are not in a healthy place, and I wonder if an immoral person were to begin a relationship with our children whether our children would side with dad or this other influence. There was a day under Adolf Hitler when the government used its influence in the schools to break down the family core values of the country. This was being done so the youth would vote in opposition of the morals their parents stood for. Continued on page 6

You all are Greeter(s): Charlotte Cox / Lynn & Jenny Wilson appreciated so much! Notice of Congregational Meeting (Members Only) Right now, the IRS is processing our application to be declared a tax-exempt organization in accordance with Code 501©(3). This will help us avoid some sales taxes, help us get deep discounts on certain purchases (e.g. software), and assist us when applying for grants where an IRS tax-exempt number is required. The IRS has determined that the “Purpose Statement” in our FCC Constitution (Article I Section B) is not adequate to meet their Code requirements and is asking that a suitable amendment be made. To amend our Constitution, it must be done by a vote of the congregation (members only) after a two-week notice in advance. Therefore, it is proposed to add a second sentence to our Purpose Statement to meet the IRS request. This sentence would read: “First Christian Church is organized exclusively for religious purposes under Section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future tax code”. This was announced in services June 12th, and will be voted on at close of services June 26, 2016. Brett is now completed his schooling to be a minister of God’s Word! With that comes special privileges and responsibilities. We will be honoring him during the 10:30am service by ordaining Brett Hartman as a Minister here at FCC July 3rd. We really encourage our church family to celebrate with us with a great POTLUCK in Brett’s honor and appreciation. Gene Watson and a few elders will be grilling so meat is provided please bring a potluck side or desert. Following old tradition please bring cards and canned food to do what we call “POUNDING the pastor”. This is an effort to stock Brett’s new home with food and make sure he knows his new church family cares deeply about him. Please plan to attend and honor Brett for accepting the call God has placed in his life! Brett we are so proud to have you here at FCC!

Happy Fathers Day from your FCC family! (Continued from page 1) Realistically speaking, the schools had no idea it was happening because it happened over a 17-year period of time. But once it happened, the parents spoke out against the moral outrage that was occurring and had no influence over their children. This, to the degree that a child would join into the evilest reign of terror this world has seen in ages, only to get a cool looking warm uniform. I hope that we parents, and especially dads, can stand up and raise our children “in the way of the Lord” in hopes that God’s word will remain true and “they will not depart far from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) Dads you have a great responsibility to pass on the truth and love of Jesus to your kiddos! Your responsibility is also to love your wife as Christ loves the church and ultimately to pursue Him and allow Him to mold us into what He wants from us! Please take this responsibility seriously for the sake of our country, our wives, our children and for the Love of God! Blessings and we wish you a Happy Father's Day! Blessings, Chris PLEASE KEEP NELDA POTTER IN YOUR PRAYERS. We had a special meeting with her following the 10:30am service. Nelda is dealing with cancer and has asked our elders to pray over her and anoint her with oil. The elders met with 30 more people and prayed over her as is encouraged in the book of James. Praise the Lord for his church and please keep in prayer Nelda and her health. I want people to understand how valuable it is to allow your church family to be part of your life. I hope and pray if your life is in a rough spot that you will at least consider allowing the elders into your life to pray with you! Our God is great and is capable of many mighty things and for whatever reason has asked us in James 5:14 “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.”
