OCTOBER2015

“Prepare for the unknown by studying how others in the past have coped with the unforeseeable and the unpredictable.” George S. Patton

Don’t wait for opportunities to fall into your lap. They may or may not come. Make your own opportunities. If you find a need, meet it. If you find a hurt, heal it. With God’s help you too can make your life count for something really worthwhile for time and eternity. Whatever happened in your past cannot be changed, but you can ensure a better future by making the right choices today. As a believer you need to get to the place where you’re convinced that only God can make the difference in your life. You need to seize the moment and take hold of opportunities. It’s time to do what you are called to do and stop getting caught up in things that will confuse you, complicate matters or blur your vision. Henry Ford encouraged others by saying, “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” Going against the flow or swimming upstream takes commitment and courage. Stand up and be counted in the face of the majority. Erwin McManus said, “The journey chose him but the adventure was his to enjoy.” Life is a journey for which there is no return ticket. So it’s important that you enjoy this adventure. John 15:16 says “You didn’t choose me, remember, I chose you, and put

you in the world to bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in relation to Me, He gives you.”

Day 03 - Deuteronomy 6:4-9 Day 04 - Deuteronomy 8:3 Day 05 - Deuteronomy 11:18-19 Day 06 - 2 Kings 12:2 Day 07 - 2 Chronicles 35:3 Day 08 - Nehemiah 8:7-8 Day 09 - Psalms 32:8

God chose you but you need to align yourself with His Word and choose to commit yourself to His higher calling by injecting passion into your vision. This will ultimately make this life fruitful. To be successful surround yourself with people who are successful through God. Hanging around with losers who want to cramp your work for God will leave you disappointed and disillusioned later. Live your dream and not someone else’s. Don’t get distracted by the glamour of popularity but enlist in God’s army and be significant. Albert Einstein said, “Try not to become a person of success, but rather try to become a person of value.”

Day 10 - Psalms 78:5-6

Don’t allow people to make you believe that you’re an under-achiever. Confess Philippians 4:13 over your life and act on God’s Word. Believe that God’s purpose for your life extends beyond the norm, set your sights on the distant horizon and get ready to soar. Don’t question it and don’t back off from it. Don’t settle for second best. Where you are now is not where you will stay. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly in you and through you. The best is yet to come. You can do it by the grace of God.

ZONEGathering

Make Friends to Make Disciples: The Bible says in Romans 12:16, “Be friendly with everyone. Don’t be proud and feel that you are smarter than others. Make friends with ordinary people” (CEV). Everybody’s looking for a true friend — not just acquaintances but people who are there with you when you need them most. God wants you to build true friendships with the people that are already in your life so that you can share the Gospel with them. God has put these people — your co-workers and classmates, neighbours and teammates — in your life specifically so you can share with them about the most important decision they will ever make. If you don’t tell them about what Christ has done for them, then who will? Christians tend to fall into one of two extremes: isolation or imitation. Some Christians say, “I don’t want to get polluted by the world. I’m just going to isolate myself. I’ll build a wall and my own little culture.” Isolation doesn’t work! How are you going to build any friendships that way? The other extreme is imitation, which says, “Let’s be just like the world. We’ll dress like the latest pop star. We’ll say whatever we want about other people. We’ll have whatever values and goals popular culture tells us we should have. We’ll be no different from the world.”

Make Friends to Make Disciples: By Rick Warren

By Rick Warren

That’s not what God wants you to be, either. He doesn’t want you to give in to the lowest common denominators of society. The answer is not isolation or imitation. It’s insulation and infiltration. The Bible says you’re to be salt and light in the world. You’re to penetrate the world with God’s goodness. When I go out to dinner and order sea bass, the first thing I have to do before I can eat it is put salt on it. That fish has lived its entire life in salt water, yet I have to put salt on it. What’s going on? That fish is insulated. If God can take a fish and keep it in salt water its entire life and not have the salt permeate the fish, then certainly God can take any believer, put us in the world, and keep us from being corrupted by the wrong values. God wants you to be holy and secure in your faith. He also wants you to walk out your door into the world and get to know the people He’s placed in your life. As you build relationships with people around you and share Truth with them, you are to be in the world but not of the world. “The Holy Spirit, God’s gift, does not want you to be afraid of people but to be wise and strong and to love them and enjoy being with them” (2 Timothy 1:7 TLB).
