Guide to Cambridge Children’s Books Cambridge Children’s Books are arranged according to six developmental phases: Preparing to Read, Beginning to Read, Becoming a Reader, Towards Independence, Independent Reading, Extended Reading. Apart from Preparing to Read, the infant phases consist of stages A B C which indicate three broad levels of difficulty.

Stage A books contain a lower word content and simpler sentence construction Stage B books contain a medium word content level Stage C books contain the highest word content and more difficult sentence construction
