CHILD CARE PLANNING COUNCIL COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Local Child Care Planning Council, serve as staff to plan and facilitate Council activities and meetings, coordinate; manage and implement the program to accomplish the goals and priorities of the Council; and do other related work as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling and punctuation, and basic mathematical functions; Basic concepts of child growth, development and behavior characteristics, and functions of child care programs; Current technologies involving personal computer functions and software programs utilized for word processing, spreadsheets and graphics; Modern record keeping, reporting and business correspondence procedures; Policies, rules, laws, codes, regulations and guidelines governing categorical programs. Ability to: Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with children and adults contacted in the course of work, and relate to students and families from a variety of cultures; Understand, carry out and communicate oral and written directions; Gather and analyze data and prepare clear, concise agendas, minutes of meetings, reports, brochures, business correspondence and documentation incorporating text, graphs and graphics, utilizing software programs for word processing and spreadsheets; Serve as an informational resource and provide assistance, training and guidance to individuals, public and private agencies; Work independently with directives, strictly adhering to program requirements, deadlines and due dates; Be flexible and receptive to change; Attend and conduct in-service training, conferences and meetings, as needed. Education and Experience: A BA/BS degree in Child Development, Human Services or a closely related field and two years of supervisory experience in either child development or a human resources field is preferred. License, Certificate and Testing Requirements: Possess a valid California driver license and maintain insurability. Must be able to provide your own reliable transportation to work sites within Kings County.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Work directly with the Planning Council Chair and the Planning Council Executive Committee to develop agendas for the Planning Council monthly meetings and any subcommittee meetings called by the Council Chair or Council Executive Committee; Prepare and mail agendas, minutes, reports and other information required to conduct Planning Council business, and disseminate information to appropriate persons and agencies; Develop materials and conduct new council member orientation sessions, as needed; Coordinate, plan and attend special meetings, workshops and conferences sponsored by the Planning Council; Attend pertinent meetings and conferences outside of Kings County as a representative of the Local Planning Council, which may require overnight travel; Act as a liaison with individuals, public and private agencies to share information on Council activities, participate in and network with community advisory committees, and local and state organizations that are relevant to child care planning; Ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the Local Planning grant contract, and that all reporting requirements are completed and submitted in strict adherence to due dates and guidelines; Perform other related duties, as assigned.
