CHAPTER 9—BELIEVING THE BEST

CHAPTER 9 BELIEVING THE BEST In Chapter Nine we learned about reacting right. What is the right reaction when we’re faced with unexpected situations? We are to take surprises in stride and give God the opportunity to promote us and do awesome miracles.

If we don’t give the right response, all is not lost; we can repent and respond right the next time. If we do respond right, we must remain humble and teachable. When we’re faced with the impossible, we must respond with faith. God can only work through us to the degree to which we believe.

He held up the example of Elizabeth and Zacharias. When Zacharias received the good news about his son, he laughed. He didn’t laugh with joy from the good news; he laughed with disbelief. His reaction wasn’t right, so before he could use his unbelieving confession to cancel his gift, God stilled his tongue.

God wants us to reach so far in faith that what we want can only be accomplished by Him. We must stand on His promises like the Shunamite woman did when her son died; she said it is well. That’s the right response. When we’re faced with the impossible, we must speak only the truth of God’s Word and refuse to budge until we see His promises manifest in our lives.

Mary, on the other hand, gave the right response. Though she was afraid, she submitted herself to God’s will, however it turned out. REVIEW OF CHAPTER 10
