Dear Swim Parent: The 2008 summer swim season is almost here and the pool membership rates have gone down!!! If you join on or before April 30th, you’ll get an additional Early Bird Discount. We will hold two swim team walk-in registrations. The first registration will be held Wednesday, April 30. The second registration will be Wednesday, May 14, and will include team suit fittings. Chantilly Pool season will includes 9 Family Fun nights including Family Movie Night, Taco Night, Ice Cream Social, Dessert Pot Luck, $1 menu fun night and a Jimmy Buffett night for adults. Chantilly National will be offering life guard training, private swim lessons, and its regular Golf, Swim and Tennis Camps. See the www.cngcc.org (under “tennis”) for more information on the Club’s summer camps. We’re also working on an adult water aerobics class and a Chantilly Beach Book Club. This summer, the Bluefin Swim Team will compete in the Colonial Swim League’s Blue Division. I’m attaching the summer swim calendar and swim team contact information. We will have 11 swim meets including 2 home meets, King’s Dominion for the swim team, and the fabulous swim team banquet. We’ll celebrate summer birthdays, we’ll wear hats and PJ’s and sometimes we’ll be Pirates, Superheroes, and Red, White and Bluefins. All swimmers must be an active club member or dependent of an active club member with pool privileges and able to swim 25 meters unassisted by time trials. League rules require that swimmers be 18 years or younger on June 15, 2008 to be eligible for league competition.

The Best Teams Have the Best Volunteers!! Each family is expected to provide at least one (1) parent volunteer at each meet where they have a swimmer participating. Activities Volunteers are needed as well. Volunteers will be solicited based on your choices below.

Mandatory Waiver for Swimmer Participation I verify that as parent/guardian of the named youth, I grant permission for my child(ren) to participate on the Chantilly National Golf and Country Club Swim Team. Furthermore, I understand that my child(ren) are not covered by an insurance plan through Chantilly National Golf and Country Club and do hereby waive, release, absolve, indemnify and agree to hold harmless Chantilly National Golf and Country Club and any of its administrators, coaches, volunteers, and other swim team participants for any claim arising out of an injury to my child(ren) at a Chantilly National Golf and Country Club swim team activity. In the event of injury or sickness, I authorize a swim team representative to take my child to a hospital or emergency health care center to obtain emergency treatment. The Colonial Swimming League exists to promote healthy, friendly, competitive and safe swimming opportunities for my child(ren). It is a non-profit organization run by volunteers for the benefit of its members, including me. I support and participate in the League and its sanctioned activities either directly or indirectly through my child(ren). We derive the intended benefit of safe, friendly competition and other such benefits from our participation. For that reason, and with an explicit understanding of the consequences of doing so, I, as the parent or legal guardian of the child(ren) named herein, agree that I will not file suit or cooperate in any suit brought on behalf of my child(ren) against the League or its Officers, or any other member Team, Coaches or Officers, or any pool organization sponsoring a Colonial Swim League team or its Coaches and Officers, for any injury suffered by my child(ren) in the course of League sponsored competition, including swimming meets, warm-ups, and practices, UNLESS the injury is the result of gross negligence, meaning willful misconduct of the party sued. I further agree, in consideration of the above described benefits, that if I do initiate or am a party to litigation in which gross negligence is alleged, and that lawsuit is unsuccessful, I will reimburse the party(ies) sued for their legal fees and costs associated with that lawsuit. The Bluefin team suit (pictured above) is not included in your registration fees. It can be purchased at the May 14th Walk-In Registration at the Club or at Aardvark Swim & Sport. The suit is Flash by Tyr and is the same suit we had in 2007. Swimmers have the option of wearing one of the above patterned suits or can purchase a solid black suit on their own. We negotiated a team discount for the Flash suit from Aardvark Swim & Sport which will apply to other store merchandise as well when you shop at the Chantilly Aardvark store.
