Prague

AM: Morning guided tour of Prague Old Town. The city was built on seven hills and served as former capital of the Roman Empire. The lovely Moldau River divides Prague, the "Golden City of a Hundred Spires." Fabled spires towering above the roof tops spread out from each side of the river. Prague's city center comprises four districts, which stretch across both banks of the Moldau River. On one side is the New Town with Wenceslas Square at its center, the Old Town with the Old Town Square at its center, and the Jewish Quarter.

Prague PM: Arrival Prague airport. Meet your tour manager and coach driver for the transfer into Prague. Stroll through the city with your tour manager to get familiar with this beautiful city. Prague is one of the most enchanting cities in Europe. It was under Charles IV during the 14th century that Prague briefly became the seat of the Holy Roman Empire – virtually the capital of Western Europe – and acquired its distinctive Gothic imprint. Prague escaped serious wartime damage and is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe today. Mozart claimed that no one understood him better than the citizens of Prague, and he was only one of several great masters who lived or lingered here.

PM Performance at Ladvi Hall or Sts. Simon and Jude Church. Enjoy a visit of Prague Castle District after the concert. EVE: Group dinner at local restaurant and overnight in Prague. Ibis Old Town (B,D)

Prague/Vienna

AM: After breakfast journey to Vienna.

TUE 14 MAR

Vienna

AM: Visit Schönbrunn, the Palace of Empress ‘Sisi’ Elisabeth. During the reign of Maria Theresa, Schönbrunn was the summer residence of the court. It was in the concert room that Mozart at the age of six astonished the empress and the courtiers with his amazing talents. Also the Emperor Franz Joseph was born here and died. You will see the different apartments; a total of 46 are open for the visitors. The Palace is a triumph of the Rococo style of the 18th C.

St. Stephan’s Cathedral PM: Upon afternoon arrival in Vienna, the music capital of Europe, you will visit the Zentralfriedhof where you will see the grave sites of Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss and the Mozart Memorial followed by a guided sightseeing tour of Vienna. Visit St. Stephan’s Cathedral, where Haydn at the age of eight attracted the attention of Kapellmeister Georg Reutter. Drive by the State Opera, the famous Musikverein, and various palaces. The baroque era (17th-18th C) saw the arrival of opera, born in Italy around 1600 and ardently welcomed to Vienna by the Court and citizenry alike. The 18th C was dominated by the figure of Haydn, the initiator of Classicism in Vienna; his ‘Seasons’ is intimately linked to the Schwarzenberg Palace. Here Mozart discovered the works of Bach and Handel in the house of Maria Theresa’s doctor’s son; and Beethoven and Gluck were guests at the Lobkowitz palace. With the encouragement of Joseph II the number of theatres multiplied, helping to bring music within reach of the middle classes. EVE: Dinner at hotel or nearby restaurant and overnight in Vienna. Ibis Wien Mariahilf (B,D)

Schönbrunn Palace PM: Visit the House of Music, a modern interactive museum dedicated to sound and music situated in a historic palace. Take a journey through the magic world of music. Visit the Vienna Philharmonic Museum on the first floor, the sound gallery, the exhibits dedicated to the great composers of Vienna, and much more. EVE Performance at the Votivkirche.
