Bring out the artist in your child, whether he/she is a beginner or another Rembrandt. Campers will create personal pieces of art. They will learn printmaking, drawing, and painting.

Dear Parents, This is our 26th Summer of Fun and we are excited to, again, be offering a variety of daily activities and weekly special events that will make the camp experience memorable for your young camper. Whether you choose Day Camp (ages 3 - 12), Adventure Camps (ages 5 - 16), or a combination of both—your child is sure to have fun. The fully trained staff’s two primary concerns are the campers’ safety and ensuring a positive experience. These programs make extensive use of St. Johns 26-acre campus, including its outdoor athletic fields, locker facilities, fine arts resources, 25-yard swimming pool, computer labs, air-conditioned gyms, as well as the Performing Arts Center. Planned excursions to nearby “fun spots” add still more enjoyment to the campers’ summer experiences. St. Johns Summer of Fun Camp Programs are guaranteed to keep away the “nothing to do” summer blues and have a great time doing it! Mr. Mike Hilliard Director

CREATIVE ART

What’s for dinner? Let your child learn to answer that question. Basic nutrition, food preparation, kitchen “how-to’s,” as well as table setting and manners will provide campers with useful skills and LOTS OF FUN!

DAY CAMP

Page 12

Day Campers, ages 3 - 12, enjoy the use of St. Johns 26-acre campus, including its outdoor athletic fields and play equipment, locker facilities, fine arts resources, 25-yard swimming pool, computer labs, and air-conditioned gyms.

This camp is a perfect mixture of fun and learning, using LEGO© WeDo™ Robots. Using LEGO© bricks, students build an airplane rescue, a giant escape, a sailboat storm, a hungry alligator, a flying bird, and a roaring lion. They will also use the WeDo Robotics Construction Set that combines with the Construction Set to build four new, larger models - a tower crane, an intelligent house, a Ferris wheel, and a car. The set takes STEM concept learning with WeDo to the next level, extending the possibilities for creative problem-solving challenges, literacy lessons, and math connections for elementary students. They also learn how to program and operate their creations using a laptop computer.

Campers are grouped by age and supervised by trained full-time counselors. All campers, Kindergarten through Grade 4, have swim lessons. Standard guidelines are used to establish swimming levels, and parents receive a report at the end of each two-week session. Campers may register for one session (two weeks) or up to four sessions (eight weeks). Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., five days a week. One-week registration is also available. Extended day care is available. All campers should bring a bathing suit to camp every day. Play clothes suitable for a full day of camp fun are suggested. Tennis shoes, socks, and a towel are required. No sandals, please. Campers need to bring bag lunches and drinks. A morning snack is provided.

ENGINEERING FOR KIDS

During the Video Game Design: Invader Defense class, students will use Multimedia Fusion 2.5® to create their own video game. Whether students wish to fire marshmallows or missiles, they build a complete video game from start to finish. They program characters to survive a wave of enemy attacks in order to reach the next level. At the end of the class, students take home a copy of the game they create.
