Effective March 1, 2011, Anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective headgear except those riders age 18 and over while on horses that are competing only in FEI levels and tests at the Prix St. Georges level and above (including FEI Young Rider Tests, the USEF Developing Prix St Georges Test and the USEF Brentina Cup Test).

Minimum Qualifying Scores for Great American / USDF Championships One set of nationally-standardized qualifying scores has been established for all USEF/USDF Regional Championships, for levels through Grand Prix, in three divisions: open, adult amateur, and junior/young rider. FEI Junior and FEI Young Rider classes have only one respective division. Freestyles have only open divisions. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Volunteers are what make our shows run so well. We are always in need of helpful people to do various jobs at our shows. Examples of positions are: scribe, runner, warm-up arena steward, scoring and office help. Volunteers receive a TEV monogrammed visor and for each 4 hours worked earn a raffle ticket. Raffle drawing for over $1,000 in prizes will be at our annual Christmas party.

ATTENTION COMPETITORS Each competitor is responsible for supplying management with correct association numbers (USDF, United States Equestrian Federation) for horse, owner, rider, and trainer, before the day of the competition.

The scores of competitors who fail to supply correct numbers may not be counted toward national awards.

RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. 2. Life, Senior active and Junior active Members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above, Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A non-member may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing competitions, Dressage competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving competitions upon payment of a $30 non-member registration fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the requirements of this rule: 1) Leadline; 2) Exhibitions; 3) Games and Races; 4) Classes for 4-H Members; 5) Walk Trot and Academy Classes (Academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes. 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA Beginner Novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. (See GR901.9 of the Federation rule book) 3. ENTRY PROCEDURE: Entries must be made on an official entry form or photocopy of same and must be filled out completely, including all classes entered, all signatures, (no dittos), organization membership numbers and fees. Please include a photocopy of current membership ID for rider, owner, trainer and horse. Amateur must provide a copy of their Amateur card or proof of application for an Amateur card. An Internet search will be done for entries missing any of the required membership photocopies at a charge of $10. Entries are accepted on a first-come, first served basis until classes are filled. Entries received after the closing date will be accepted only if the schedule permits. Each late entry that has been accepted shall be assessed a late fee of $50. Changes to entries ($25 fee) after the closing date will be at the sole discretion of the show management. No telephone entries will be accepted. Complete entry with check must be mailed by closing date or a complete entry (with card copies and credit card payment) may be faxed. Payment in full or an open check must accompany the entry. 4. AMATEURS AND JUNIORS: Amateurs are defined by the rules and specifications of the current USEF Rule Book. All riders entering the Amateur classes must possess or have applied for an USEF Amateur Card prior to riding in the class. All riders in Amateur Divisions must present an USEF Amateur Card when picking up their numbers or they will not be allowed to show in the Amateur Division. Cards may be applied for at the show office. Individuals are eligible as Juniors until the end of the calendar year in which they will be 18 years of age. Individuals are eligible as Young Riders from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 16 years and until the end of the calendar year in which they reach 21 years of age. Competitors will compete as Adults from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 22. Individuals possessing current amateur certification are only eligible as Adult Amateurs from the beginning of the calendar year in which they reach age 22. 5. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Every horse entered for competition will be under the control of the TEV-CDS show management, but the show management will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur; and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the Horse Show and its Directors harmless for any loss or accident to his horse, horses or equipment which may occur from sickness, fire or otherwise. A signed entry is a legal document and is a commitment to follow all rules and pay all fees associated with the entry. 6. REFUNDS: All fees, less a $35 administrative fee, will be returned if horses are scratched before the Closing Date. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS OF CLASS FEES OR STALL/TACK ROOM FEES FOR ANY REASON AFTER THE CLOSING DATE. Exception: Class fees will be returned if scratched by 6:00PM Friday one week before start of the show. 7. RETURNED CHECKS OR DECLINED CREDIT CARDS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason are regarded as a most serious offense and will be handled according to the following procedure: A 10% penalty (minimum $25.00) will be assessed for each returned check or declined credit card. Checks will NOT be deposited a second time. 8. MANAGEMENT: TEV-CDS show management reserves the right to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. Management also reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide classes, or to change officials as it deems necessary. All questions not covered in these rules and regulations shall be decided by the TEV-CDS show management – their decision is final. 9. REFUSAL OF ENTRIES: TEV-CDS reserves the right to refuse any entry of an exhibitor or the participation of any agent, trainer, rider, driver or handler who has shown an objectionable attitude or behavior at a Licensed Competition or towards its management as stated in GR914.1 of the US Equestrian Federation Rule Book. 10. ARENA: Show arena is 20 X 60 meters. All footing consists of a sand and dirt mix. Only those horses registered with the TEV-CDS show management are permitted use of the show facilities, warm-up arena and show arena. All horses in the warm-up arena must wear their competition numbers. Lunging is allowed in specific areas only and upon receiving permission of the ring steward.

RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION, con’t. 11. STABLING, GROUNDS FEE: Permanent stalls, cinder block construction, 12’x12’ with Dutch doors. Stalls, grooming stalls and/or tack rooms are $160 (Wednesday thru Sunday), 2 bales of shavings provided; $105 for one day, 1 shavings provided. If you need to arrive before Wednesday, or stay longer than Sunday, you must call and make arrangements (760) 728-6325. Additional stabling $25/day. Shavings may be ordered on entry form or in show office, Big Horse Feed is nearby for feed shopping. Grounds fee (per day including schooling days) of $25 applies if not stabled. SWITCHING STALLS is strictly forbidden. If you want a different stall, you must go through the show office. Exhibitors may be fined $100 for unauthorized use of stalls and will be responsible for any shavings liability. 12. RV PARKING: Water and electric hookups are available in the RV park at Galway Downs for $50/night. 13. SHOW STATUS: In the event of inclement weather, natural or other disasters prior to the show, it is the competitor’s responsibility to contact management as to the show status. Please call (760) 728-6325. 14. DOGS: Dogs must be on a leash. All animals should be managed so as to not disturb the competitors. 15. SCORED TEST: Tests will be distributed to riders, or their authorized representative, after the results have been finalized and awards presented. Scores will be posted when available. 16. SAFETY: Anyone mounted on a horse must wear protective headgear except those riders age 18 and over while on horses that are competing only in FEI levels and tests at the Prix St. Georges level and above (including FEI Young Rider Tests, the USEF Developing Prix St Georges Test and the USEF Brentina Cup Test). 17. GOLF CARTS: and all motorized vehicles require a valid driver’s license to operate. Wheelchairs, etc., for people with disabilities are exempt. USEF rule GR1301.7 18. STALLIONS: Stallions must remain in the trailer unless being managed by a qualified person or must get a stall. 19. SCHOOLING OF HORSES: Exhibitor number must be worn at all times when horse is taken out of its stall or trailer including the day before the show starts. Horses not entered in the show must be registered with the Horse Show office and will be given a number to be worn at all times not in a stall or tied to a trailer. Appropriate stall or grounds fees, drug fees and a $25.00 per day fee must be paid. Any person(s) riding a schooling horse must have signed an official entry blank. A schooling horse may be allowed in the warm-up arena at the discretion of the ring steward. 20. RIDE TIMES: Times will be emailed and will be posted at TEV-CDS.com. It is the exhibitor’s responsibility to contact show management if times are not received. Failure to enter the arena at the specified time may incur elimination.

In accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
