CCPL Calendar of Events Charleston County Public Library

CCPL takes pride in supporting local community arts. Check out some of the events taking place at your local library during the 2015 North Charleston Arts and Piccolo Spoleto Festivals.

Closing The Library will close on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day.

North Charleston Arts Festival Events Sampling Tuesday, May 5 There’s Rhythm in the Telling Cooper River Memorial Library at 10:30 a.m. Join J’miah Nabawi, award-winning storyteller and author, for an interactive performance about Anansi the Spider. Find your rhythm, and enjoy stories that feature songs, dancing and drums. Soul/R&B/Rock Concert - The Stilettos Dorchester Road Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Join the Stilettos, a high-energy dance band, for an evening concert that features a mixture of Motown soul, blues, R&B, rock and reggae.

Concert by The Brass Praise Band Cooper River Memorial Library at 1 p.m. Under the direction of Pastor Andrew Williams, this New Orleans-style brass ensemble performs uplifting hymns and praise songs, including favorites like “Amazing Grace.”

Otranto Road Regional Library at 10:30 a.m. Join Becky’s Box of Puppets for a classic fairy tale that stars exquisitely costumed puppets and encourages audience participation. Mountain Music, Stories and Dance Dorchester Road Library from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Join Jeff Robbins for an interactive and educational performance that highlights traditional Appalachian music, sing-a-longs, a "sit-down square dance" and instrument-building demonstrations. Jazz Saxophone Concert Otranto Road Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Treat your ears to the smooth sounds of early 20th century and contemporary jazz by Randy Corinthian, accomplished saxophonist, music producer and educator.

Fridays, May 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 Little Lotus Yoga (ages 3 and older) Mt. Pleasant Regional Library at 11 a.m. Jennifer Rogers of Little Lotus Yoga teaches preschool children and their caregivers how to practice yoga through interactive storytelling, games, music, art and plenty of fun. Attendance is limited to the first 18 children who arrive at each class.
