1 Introduction This memo outlines the setup procedure for enabling OnDemand as well as an overview of the OnDemand User Interface along with other pertinent information on the feature. The setup portion of this document is only necessary for the first time OnDemand is used on a particular PC. However, this setup must take place on each Windows PC where the OnDemand viewing of CaseCracker interviews is desired. The Windows PC must have the latest Windows Updates installed prior to enabling this feature.

OnDemand is supported in 3 different operating systems: Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. The table below lists the combinations of browsers and operating systems supported:

* Note that although many users can be logged in OnDemand at the time, only a maximum number of those users can be playing a session at the same time. If the number of users currently playing a session reaches the server’s maximum, no other user is permitted to play a session until this number drops back below the maximum value (i.e. first-come, first-serve).

2 Enabling the OnDemand Service (for the Administrator) Before users can access OnDemand from their remote PCs the Administrator must enable the OnDemand service in the desired CaseCracker unit(s). In CaseCracker, log in as an administrator and go to Tools > Setup and select the Live Streaming tab. Ensure that the “Enable streaming of live interviews over the network” box is checked and click “OK”.

You must log out, then back in again, then at this point OnDemand is enabled. This will allow users to remotely view any live and previously recorded sessions. At any time the Administrator may return to this screen and disable OnDemand by unchecking the checkbox.

Testing the OnDemand Connection

In order for users to connect to the CaseCracker unit(s), the Administrator must supply them with the IP address of the machine. Locate and note the IP address of the CaseCracker unit in the bottom left corner of the main CaseCracker screen. Users can reach the CaseCracker server by entering the IP address in the Internet Explorer address bar as shown below:

In this example the IP address happens to be 192.168.1.0, yours will likely be different. For ease of use, bookmark the IP address of the CaseCracker unit. Once you connect, if it says, "Remote Feature Disabled" instead of the login screen:

It means one of two things: The Live Streaming service is not turned on. To enable Live Streaming, the system administrator must log in the CaseCracker desktop and go to Tools > Setup > Live Streaming and select the “Enable streaming of live interviews over the network” check box. NOTE: You must log out, then back in again for the change to be updated. Your CaseCracker product license does not include Remove Live Viewing. Please contact your CaseCracker Channel Manager for information about product upgrade options. If the OnDemand service is enabled, a login page like the following will be shown:

3 Installing the Digital Certificate (All Users) 3.1

Instructions for Windows Vista and Windows 7 Users

If you are using Windows 8, skip to the next section, otherwise follow these steps:

a. Log into the intended viewer’s desktop computer as the user that plans to view live or previously recorded interviews via OnDemand.

b. Open a supported version of Internet Explorer (please refer to Section 1.1 for the list of browsers and operating systems supported).

c. Type the IP address of the CaseCracker unit into the Internet Explorer address bar and hit “Enter”.

d. This will take you to the OnDemand login screen, but before logging in for the first time, the digital certificate will need to be installed.

e. Click on the “Install Cardinal Peak’s digital certificate” link located under “For first-time users*”.

f. Click “Open” (displayed in the bottom pop up bar of your browser).

g. A Certificate window will open. In the Certificate window, click “Install Certificate”.

h. The Certificate Import Wizard will open. Click "Next".

i. Select "Place all certificates in the following store". Click "Browse” and the Select Certificate Store dialog opens.

j. In the Select Certificate Store dialog, select "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" and click "OK".

k. Click "Next" in the Wizard. l. Verify your selections and click "Finish".

m. You may get a security warning asking if you want to install the certificate. If so, click "Yes".

n. The Wizard should say "The import was successful". Click "OK".

o. In the Certificate menu, click "OK", to close the menu.

Instructions for Windows 8 Users

If you are not using Windows 8, you can skip this section. To use OnDemand in Windows 8, you need to use the desktop version of Internet Explorer; do not use the Metro App tile shown in the Start screen:

In the Start screen, click the “Desktop” tile to open the Windows desktop, then launch IE by clicking the taskbar icon. The steps to install the digital certificate are as follows: a. When going to the OnDemand website for first time, Internet Explorer will display a certificate warning. This is normal. Click “Continue to this website (not recommended)” to continue.

b. Once on the login page, click the “Install Cardinal Peak's digital Certificate” link to setup the OnDemand security certificate:

c. A confirmation pop-up will appear at the bottom of your browser window. Click Open to continue.

d. When the security warning dialog appears, click Open to continue.

In the Certificate Import Wizard, select “Current User” and click Next:

4 Logging in OnDemand (All Users) The following screenshot shows the OnDemand login screen:

To log in follow these steps: a. Select the user name to log in as. b. Enter the user’s password (if you have never changed the default password “welcome”, you cannot log in OnDemand. You must first log in the CaseCracker desktop to set a new password, and then you will be allowed to log in OnDemand). c. Press the Login button to log in. If the password is incorrect or the user still has the system default password, an error message will be displayed. The user needs to either re-enter the password, or if he or she has never changed the default password, log in the CaseCracker desktop to set a new password.

Installing the VLC plugin (one time only) a. The first time you enter to OnDemand you will be prompted to allow the installation of an Internet Explorer add-on called “axvlc_signed.cab”. The installation prompt will indicate that the add-on is signed by Cardinal Peak to ensure its authenticity. Click “Install” to allow the installation. (This message may appear several times during the installation process, always click the Install button).

b. When the security dialog appears, click Yes to continue (If you are not the Computer’s Administrator, you will need to enter the administrator password in order to continue):

c. If the firewall dialog appears (i.e. your Windows firewall is enabled), click Allow Access:

d. In the User Account Control dialog click Yes:

e. Now the OnDemand setup is completed.

Troubleshooting: 1 - If you don't see a list of users to log in: Turn off Compatibility View in IE. 2 - If the video playback area of the webpage is black, but the rest of the interface is displayed: a - RIGHTS: Users must have adequate permissions for their browser to install the plugin files. Check here for the plugin files: C:\Program Files\CardinalPeak\CaseCracker\VLCplugin\plugins If the folder doesn't exist, or is empty, try connecting to CaseCracker again but with Admin rights. b - ANTI-VIRUS: Try temporarily disabling the anti-virus system. Certain ones block our video stream. If this works, then try adding an exception for the file axvlc.dll. (Sophos and McAfee are known to block the video stream.) c - FIREWALLS: Certain firewalls can also block our video stream. These are the ports we use: OnDemand Live (46729), OnDemand Recorded (46730), 443, and 80.

Using the OnDemand Interface

Each key area is described below by its respective number:

a.

Video Tabs: Use these tabs to switch between live and previously-recorded OnDemand sessions. When there are no live recordings in progress, the room tabs are in a disabled state. If a recording in any of the rooms is started, its respective tab will become enabled and light up with a green indicator ; it also may show a pause icon if the live recording is currently paused.

User Information: This section of the screen shows the name of the user currently logged in as well as the name of the user’s organization.

c.

Logout Button: Clicking this button logs the user out of OnDemand and returns him back to the login page.

d.

Annotations Panel: This panel lists the annotations and flags associated with the current session. Double-clicking an entry in this list will make the video jump to the frame that the particular annotation or flag is associated with. Right-clicking an annotation or flag entry in the list brings up a pop-up menu with options for editing or deleting the entry; note however © 2015 Cardinal Peak Technologies, LLC

that during a live session recording, new annotations and flags can be added, but they cannot be edited or deleted until after the live session ends. e.

Volume Control: Use this to adjust the player’s volume or mute the sound completely.

Progress and Scrubber Bar: This bar shows the player’s progress. Clicking anywhere in the bar will cause the video to jump the selected point time.

g.

Open New Session: Clicking the Open button will display a dialog containing a list of sessions the user is authorized to watch. Note that a user is authorized to watch his or her own sessions, sessions belonging to a group the user is member of, and sessions that are public. The Open Session dialog is shown below:

To open a session, simply double-click the desired session entry; the dialog will automatically close and the session will be loaded in the player. Entering text in the Filter field and hitting the ENTER key will narrow down the list to sessions only containing the filter text. To clear the filter and show all sessions again, click the X next to the filter field. Clicking the Refresh from Server button pulls a fresh list of sessions from the server. This button is useful if new sessions have been created after the user has logged in. Clicking Cancel closes the dialog without opening any session. h.

To create an annotation, enter the desired text in the dialog and then click OK to save it. Click Cancel to dismiss the dialog without adding any annotation. If the user has no permissions to Annotate, the annotate button is disabled. i.

Flag Button: Use this button to create a flag that marks the current video frame. If the user has no permissions to annotate, the Flag button is disabled.

Play, Pause and Stop Buttons: Use these buttons to control the video player. These buttons are enabled only when watching OnDemand content that was previously recorded; when watching a live session, these buttons are disabled. Note that if a video is paused for more than a minute, the video player will timeout and automatically stop.

Session Information Panel: This section of the screen shows details about the session being played.

Video Area: This area is used to show the video being played. Note that the video’s aspect ratio is preserved regardless of the size of your browser window; this may cause the picture to have black bars on the sides or at the top and bottom as shown below. This is normal.
