There are different careers and career paths in the area of nutrition and food science. There are many services available to families offered by professionals in the nutrition and food science field. Due to the many social and economic changes in our society, the study of food, nutrition, and dietetics continues to be constantly changing. In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle one needs to be able to select, purchase and prepare affordable and nutritious food.

What career paths are available for students interested in the nutrition and food science field? What are the different careers available in the nutrition and food science field? How do social and economic changes affect the nutrition and food science field? What consumer choices exist in the nutrition and food science industry? How does one learn to make and maintain healthy dietary choices over a lifetime?

Students will know: The careers and career paths that are available for those interested in the nutrition and food science field. How social and economic factors influence the nutrition and food science industry. How to make wise choices regarding nutrition. How to make and maintain healthy dietary choices over a lifetime.

Students will be able to: Choose a career and design a career path they could be interested in, in the field of food science. Distinguish between different careers in the food service industry. Analyze the current social and economic changes that will continue to affect the food service industry. Differentiate between healthy and unhealthy food and nutrition choices over the course of a lifetime.
