Care Worker Application Pack Thank you for your interest in applying to work with us. Please read the following information before filling out your application… Introduction Bright Care at Home was founded in 2009 in Edinburgh by Tim and Louise Cocking. It is our mission to help the elderly live confidently and age gracefully in their own homes for as long as possible either through supporting individuals directly or offering respite services to unpaid family carers. We choose to make a positive difference in the lives of seniors and their families who love them. We now also have an office in Glasgow to serve new clients in the Glasgow, East Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire area. Most of our clients will require additional help with everyday living but do not relish the thought of residential care. We offer a cost effective alternative to residential care. Examples of our home-based support include every day domestic tasks such as, cleaning, laundry, meal preparation alongside companionship and occasionally some personal care. We can also handle a lot of respite, sleepover and live in care assignments which often include helping clients get out and about in the community and making the most of local activities and events. We focus on companionship and always strive to spend quality time with our customers. We do this mainly by maintaining minimum visits of two hours or more (although occasionally some visits might only be an hour). All of our clients are private paying individuals who use us either as an alternative or top up to statutory state provision. They prefer to have complete choice and control over how they receive their care. Who and what are we looking for? We are seeking carers who are warm and compassionate people and who love working with the elderly. Experience is not necessary as full training is provided, but it is beneficial. The hours that we can offer are flexible and part time. We will do our best to get you the hours you are looking for as soon as possible, but because the uptake of new clients is not always predictable, we cannot guarantee start dates or the matching with clients straight away. The default position of all of our carers is “bank staff” with no guaranteed hours. However, once you get established as part of the team in some cases we can offer you a guaranteed hours contract. Ideally, you will have a full driving license and a reliable vehicle however if you are confident on public transport and know your way around the city and suburbs – this can still work. All prospective staff will be thoroughly background checked including disclosed and referenced. The work may take you all over the local area. For happy and committed staff, there will be plenty of opportunities to further your training and qualifications in care with us. A high degree of flexibility will be required as we train you, await your disclosure and get you set up with an initial client base for you to serve. It can sometimes take a few weeks from an interview until we can secure regular work for successful candidates. Please read the summary job description on the next page to find out more about the sorts of tasks that would be expected of you or visit our website: www.brightcare.co.uk. Next Steps If you would like to be considered for an interview please fill out the application form attached and return it to us. Alternatively, if you feel this may not be what you are looking for, then we wish you all the best in finding a job just right for you!
