Seminar on:
“Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Technologies” January 9-11, 2012 Sähkömiehentie 4A, Hall K4, 02150 Espoo, Finland The Department of Energy Technology, School of Engineering at Aalto University, in collaboration with research institutes and other universities in Finland, is organizing the seminar: “Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Technologies”. The course will be focused on:
An introduction to Carbon Capture and Storage and the role of Finland and Nordic Countries in CCS innovation. CCS in other nations and Cina. Bioenergy systems with CCS (BECCS). Carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies, Pre-combustion technologies, Postcombustion techniques and Multi-Criterial assessments for reactor selection.
The seminar is sponsored by Aalto University and organized by the Laboratory for Energy Engineering and Environmental Protection at the Department of Energy Technology. The event is related to the course ENE-47.5200, Post Graduate Course on Energy Engineering. The course is meant for post-graduate / Ph.D. students and for people from industry and research institutes interested in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies, the state of the art, future developments and progresses and what are the approaches in other nations of Europe as well as in other continents. Undergraduate students in their final years of study are very welcome as well. An exam for the students will be organized in week 7 in 2012. In addition, after the course, ~week 9, a separate seminar of 1-2 days will be organized (if a sufficient number of participants is obtained) where students can give a presentation on one of the topics mentioned above. Participants need to register for this seminar during the lectures. Students receive 3 sp (study points) for the base course exam and 1 point for their presentation in the seminar.
