Canon Hongkong Promotes Recycling with Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition in second year (Hong Kong, 20 November 2012) Canon Hongkong Co., Ltd. (CHK) is now calling for school enrolment for the second year ‘Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition’ to collect used ink jet printer cartridges for recycle. Schools collected the most number of ink cartridges will be awarded with fabulous prizes. CHK launched Ink Cartridge Recycling Program since 2009 in Hong Kong and invited a famous cartoon character ‘McDull’ as the program ambassador. Up to date, there are around hundreds recycle boxes at different locations in Hong Kong for used ink cartridges collection. The competition received positive response from 60 schools, and there were nearly 8,000 used ink cartridges recycled. All ink cartridges collected are not for refilling, but for recycling purpose to minimize the burden to landfill. Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition ‘Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition’ welcomes all primary and secondary schools to join and keep those used ink-jet printer cartridges out of the landfills. Once the school registered. CHK will send the box for collection where students, teachers and parents can drop off the used ink cartridges. The competition divided into three categories, and three schools can win in each category: (1) Recycled most ink cartridges (Any ink cartridge brands) (2) Recycled most Canon ink cartridges (3) Recycled most ink cartridges per head (Collection quantity per student) Every 5 cartridges collected by each participant, a Canon X McDull special edition notebook will be offered. Moreover, the first 3 schools of each category will be rewarded with the McDull school cheer-up tour; “S-MARK”, an innovative mobile classroom assessment solution; Canon large format printer and document scanner accordingly. CHK also prepared a teacher’s kit enhance students' understanding of the importance of recycling. Environmental Protection Comic Design Competition The ‘Environmental Protection Comic Design Competition’ welcomes all students to create a comic about reducing waste and recycling and Ms. Alice Mak, the creator of McDull will be the judge of this competition. There will be a online voting for public to vote for their favorite artwork and entitled a chance to win fabulous prize.
