We provide a wide range of support services and education resources to help patients and their families manage a cancer diagnosis and become active participants in the healing process. These services are an integral part of the world-class health care offered by UCSF Medical Center.

Your Place for Information and Support The UCSF Cancer Resource Center (CRC) promotes wellness and the healing process by providing patients and their loved ones with supportive care services and cancer-related information. We offer a range of programs designed to bring people with cancer together, foster community, educate and offer effective tools to help navigate the disease process. Most programs are free to anyone living with cancer. Visit the UCSF Cancer Resource Center before or after your medical appointment to learn about resources available to you. The CRC can serve as your connection hub to supportive care services.

All are free unless stated otherwise.  Art for Recovery The Open Art Studio takes place weekly, providing a safe and friendly environment for patients to express their feelings through various arts and writing projects. Classes include yoga, Pilates-based core strengthening, Healing Through Dance and Feldenkrais-based restorative movement.  Social Work Social workers can assist with practical and emotional concerns, such as insurance coverage, disability benefits, financial assistance, transportation, lodging and setting up home care or hospice care. A social worker is assigned to each practice and can meet with you by appointment. To speak to your social worker, ask your oncologist’s office or call the Cancer Resource Center at 415-885-3693 for your assigned social worker’s name and phone number. The Symptom Management Service provides multidisciplinary medical services and palliative care for current UCSF cancer patients with troubling side effects or with advanced cancer. A referral from your oncologist or another member of your health care team is required. Services are avail- able for a fee. Some insurance companies may cover these services.
