The Calyx is Sydney’s newest venue and must-see attraction within the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. A fusion of art, theatre and flora, The Calyx boasts stunning architecture and features themed exhibitions. EXHIBITION VIEWING The Calyx features themed exhibitions and the southern hemisphere’s largest green wall, with over 18,000 plants arranged into living artworks. The themed exhibitions change approximately every 9 months therefore the venue is continuously changing and is a great opportunity to regularly engage and surprise your guests. As part of the venue hire, your guests can step through a self-guided tour which is designed to run for around 30-45 minutes. Enhance your event with a private guided tour at an additional cost. Guided tours can last up to two hours, but can be tailored to suit your event needs.

EVENT DINING When hosting a function at The Calyx, you and your guests will receive an exceptional experience and a seamlessly executed event. We are committed to creating tailored, seasonal menus using quality Australian produce that support our diverse and contemporary food style. Our service values focus on quality, flexibility and respect for our guests.

FAQS What else is included in your event package? All plate ware, glassware, cutlery, crockery, napkins and professional wait staff. Do you supply styling and theming? Our suppliers will assist you with all of your styling needs. A list of our suppliers will be provided by your event coordinator for you to connect with them directly. What will wait staff be wearing at my event? Formal black pants, white long-sleeved shirt, black vest and black shoes. What parking facilities are available? (Pending entrance is from Morshead Gate) Secure carpark – 131 Macquarie St Sydney Evening parking for entry after 5.00pm is a flat rate of $28.00 or there are also metered spots on Macquarie St.

Do I have to choose one of the food and beverage packages offered, or can I tailor a bespoke menu? Yes, you can tailor a bespoke menu. We understand that every aspect of your event is personal and you may want to design a special menu at an additional cost. Can I make changes to my menu and beverage package selection in the lead up to my event? Yes, your event coordinator will work with you to accommodate any changes that may arise, however we ask that all final numbers and menu choices are confirmed two week prior to your event. What if I want specific alcohol at my event that is not in the packages? We will try to work with you to provide a particular alcohol outside of our menu if possible. Simply ask your event coordinator for more information.

Can I bring my own alcohol? We allow you to bring your own spirits, however this does incur a corkage fee. Please confirm with your event coordinator. How do I confirm my event date? Your event date will be confirmed once we receive your deposit payment of 25% of the minimum spend and a signed contract. The balance must be paid seven days before your event. What is the earliest start time and latest finish time I can book my event to run to? 7.00am to 9.00am with bump in from 6.00am for breakfast events or 6.00pm to 12.00pm with bump in from 4.00pm for evening events. What is the address of the venue? What should I put on my invitations? The Calyx, Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney (entry via Morshead Gate on Macquarie St) We can provide you with a map of the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney to include with your invitations for guests to follow on the day to easily locate the venue.

Can I deliver items in advance of my event and what are the timings? All deliveries are to be made on the day of your event. We ask that everything you deliver to us or drop off is clearly labelled. Delivery times are after 4.00pm. Access for suppliers is via Service Access Rd off Mrs Macquarie’s Rd – a map can also be provided for this. Can I leave items to be picked up post my event? Please liaise with your event manager to organise this. The Calyx has wheelchair access and is a non-smoking venue.
