Stewardship Reflections 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

“…for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 18:14 Pride and ego is the root cause of most of our sins. Thinking your time is so valuable, your talent is better than anyone else and your money gives you status is another way of making those things “gods” before God. Remember all those gifts were God-given. Instead we should be humbled by God’s abundant generosity and our hearts should be filled with gratitude. Pensar que tu tiempo es muy valioso, que tu talento es mejor que el de cualquier otra persona y que tu dinero te da categoría es otra forma de hacer de esas cosas "dioses" delante de Dios. Recuerda que todos esos regalos te fueron dados por Dios. En cambio, debemos ser humildes por la abundante generosidad de Dios y nuestros corazones deberían estar llenos de gratitud.

Mission Sunday Reflection 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Today is World Mission Sunday, and we focus on the theme, taken from the Jubilee Year of Mercy, “Mercy changes the world.” Pope Francis encourages and reminds us, “The mercy of God is His loving concern for each one of us.... As the Father loves, so do His children. Just as He is merciful, so we are called to be merciful to each other.” Psalm 34:18-19 helps us see how important each of us is to the Lord, especially when we are in need. “The Lord hears the cry of the poor.... The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; and those who are crushed in spirit He saves” In our own families and neighborhoods, we can think of those who need our listening hearts, our kind compassion. Those in our mission family cry out also for the Lord’s caring and peace. On this World Mission Sunday, we are given a unique opportunity to “be merciful to each other,” as Pope Francis asks. At the Eucharistic celebration today, we offer our prayers “to pierce the clouds” (Sirach 35:21) for communities in need around our world and for the missionaries who serve them. And we offer our help to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith to support that merciful outreach, and in support of the proclamation of the Good News of God’s great love to the ends of the earth. Please be generous to our second collection.

30° domingo del tiempo ordinario

Hoy es Domingo Mundial de las Misiones y nos centramos en el tema, tomado del Año Conmemorativo de la Misericordia, "la Misericordia Cambia El Mundo." El Papa Francisco nos alienta y nos recuerda: "La misericordia de Dios es su amorosa preocupación por cada uno de nosotros. ... Como el Padre ama, también lo hacen sus hijos. Así como Él es misericordioso, nosotros también estamos llamados a ser misericordiosos unos con otros”.

El Salmo 34: 18-19 nos ayuda a ver lo importante que cada uno de nosotros es para el Señor, especialmente cuando estamos en necesidad. "El Señor escucha el grito de los pobres.... El Señor está cerca de los de corazón quebrantado; y a los de espíritu entristecido, los salva. "En nuestras propias familias y vecindarios, pensamos en aquellos que necesitan de nuestros corazones para ser escuchados, nuestra gentil compasión. Los que están en nuestra familia misionera gritan también por el cuidado y la paz del Señor. En esta Jornada Misionera Mundial, se nos da una oportunidad única para "ser misericordiosos unos con otros", como pide el Papa Francisco. En la celebración eucarística de hoy, ofrecemos nuestras oraciones "para atravesar las nubes" (Eclesiástico 35:21) por las comunidades necesitadas en todo el mundo y para los misioneros que les sirven. Y ofrecemos nuestra ayuda a la Sociedad para la Propagación de la Fe apoyando esa divulgación misericordiosa, y el apoyo de la proclamación de la Buena Nueva del gran amor de Dios hasta los confines de la tierra. Por favor sean generosos en la segunda colecta para esta cause tan importante.

Teen Leader Safe Environment Registration

If anyone missed the open registration dates for all youth ministry programs for the 2016-17 school year of religious education classes, you can still register. Just arrive early on your student's first day of class. This is for new and returning students wishing to register for Discovery (7th-8th), YSN (9th-12th) and Youth RCIA & 1st Communion. *Special Note - for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Those wishing to prepare for this Sacrament must be in 11 th grade and are expected to be in religious education for one year before registering for Confirmation. Discovery

Boda Comunitaria Si usted ha pensado en casarse por la Iglesia, o convalidar su matrimonio civil en la Iglesia. Tenemos un programa de preparación para las parejas que deseen recibir en una celebración junto con otras parejas el Sacramento de Matrimonio. Requisitos: estar casados por el civil o haber vivido juntos por lo menos 5 años, traer sus certificados de Bautismo actualizados (con fecha expedida en los últimos 6 meses), y certificado de boda o acta de matrimonio civil. También tendremos preparación de primera comunión y confirmación para las parejas que lo necesiten. La primera reunión informativa será el 6 de Diciembre en el salón parroquial. Para más información favor de llamar a Bertha Olmos, 817-201-6336. Nota importante, esta preparación es solo para las parejas interesadas en casarse en la boda comunitaria. Reminder

The Daniel Jones Retreat-Assistance Memorial Fund is open for donations. The money in this fund will be used to help pay for youth who cannot afford to pay for retreats and/ or various other youth events. Donations are taken throughout the year. Anyone may donate to this fund.

The usher ministry is in need of volunteers. The purpose of ushering in church is not merely to serve people, as in a theater or restaurant. Its purpose is to serve God.
