1‐Jan The "Virtual Machine Administrator" role ships with vCenter. Think twice about using this role. At the very least, investigate the permissions this role has. The name of the role is misleading as it has a lot more permissions than virtual machine administration. For example, this role has the ability to destroy datastores!
2‐Jan Convert an available ESX tty to an ESXTOP session with these steps: 1. Edit /etc/inittab file 2. Comment out the line 5:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty5 by placing a # at the beginning 3. Find: 6:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty ‐f /etc/issue.emergency ‐l /bin/login.emergency tty6 4. Insert after: esxtop:2345:respawn:/usr/bin/esxtop ‐d 2 ‐s > /dev/tty5
