Installing the Portal Integration Kit on a Microsoft SharePoint Server Installation overview

Installation overview Setting up and installing the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit includes two main activities:

Installing the Web Part Package The BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit includes an installation program that adds a Web Part Package on your SharePoint system. For information about installing the Web Part Package, see “Installing the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit” on page 10.

Configuring your deployment After installing the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit, you can set additional configuration options that are specific to your deployment. For information about advanced configuration options, see “Configuring the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit” on page 15.

The Web Part Package that is installed with the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit is part of the Intelligence Tier of the BusinessObjects Enterprise framework. The web parts enable you to integrate the report-viewing and distribution features of BusinessObjects Enterprise and Crystal Reports with your SharePoint system. For more information about the BusinessObjects Enterprise architecture, see the “BusinessObjects Enterprise Architecture” chapter in the BusinessObjects Enterprise Administrator’s Guide. Note: After you install the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit, no icons or shortcuts are added to your Start menu. The setup program installs five items on your SharePoint deployment: three functional web parts (Document List, Document View, and Crystal Report View) and two sample web parts. These web parts are located in the Virtual Server Gallery folder on your SharePoint system. ASPX files are installed in the following folder: ..\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS.

Two specific ASPX pages are added—these pages control the display of Business Objects documents:

• •

CrystalCalendar.aspx CrystalReport.aspx

In addition, the template configuration file for the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit is installed here: c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\CONFIG\webconfig.businessobjects.xml.

The documentation is available for download from the BusinessObjects Enterprise web site. This includes this install guide, the administrator’s guide, and the user’s guide. The user’s guide is also available when you click Help while using your installed web parts.

System requirements For a list of system requirements, consult the Platforms.txt file included with your product distribution. For additional important information that may pertain to your deployment, it is also strongly recommended that you consult the Release Notes included with your product distribution. In general, the following components must be installed and configured correctly before you install the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit:

• • • •

Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services or Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003. BusinessObjects Enterprise XI .NET SDK (on your SharePoint machine or machines). Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (any edition). BusinessObjects Enterprise and Crystal Reports (on either the same machine and/or on a different machine).

Note:

• •

Ensure that you are logged on as a user with administrator privileges. In your BusinessObjects Enterprise installation, install OLAP Intelligence if you want to include analytic reporting for your SharePoint solution.

Your SharePoint deployment can be on a different machine from your BusinessObjects Enterprise machine or machines. In addition, the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit can be deployed to multiple SharePoint servers.

Configuring the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit Configuration overview

Configuration overview This chapter is intended for administrators who have good working knowledge of SharePoint, BusinessObjects Enterprise, and web servers. It details specific steps for various installation scenarios that apply to specific SharePoint deployments. For more information on general administrative tasks, see the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit Administrator’s Guide. Related topics:

“Considerations when enabling SharePoint on virtual servers post install” on page 16 “Updating web.config for subsequent SharePoint-enabled virtual servers” on page 17 “General considerations” on page 22

Considerations when enabling SharePoint on virtual servers post install This section provides information on updating the template configuration file when you enable Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services or Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 on a new virtual server after the installation of the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit.

Template configuration file The template configuration file for the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit is located in the following directory: c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\CONFIG\webconfig.businessobjects.xml.

Every time a web site is created through your SharePoint solution, SharePoint uses this XML configuration template file to generate web.config entries. This template also specifies the BusinessObjects Enterprise system that you entered during installation. Thus, if you change the machine on which your BusinessObjects Enterprise Central Management Server (CMS) is located, you need to update this XML file. In particular, you need to update the value for the “BusinessObjects Enterprise Central Management Server” key to ensure that the value matches the name of your CMS.

Configuring the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit Updating web.config for subsequent SharePoint-enabled virtual servers

Updating web.config for subsequent SharePoint-enabled virtual servers This section provides information about updating the web.config file. Specifically, this section details the tags and configuration settings for the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit.

Updating web.config The BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit installer updates the web.config file that is located in the standard root space of your web server (..\Inetpub\wwwroot). The installer also creates a backup of your original web.config file, called “backup web.config”. The backup file is stored in the installation directory. Note: In some instances, your web.config file may be located elsewhere. Consider this example: you host your SharePoint site on port 81, instead of the default port 80. In this case, your web.config for port 80 is located at c:\machine_name\webroot\web.config, instead of the default location (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\web.config). Although you specify the correct URL and port number during setup, the installation program always attempts to update the configuration file in c:\Inetpub\wwwroot. If there is no SharePoint or .NET deployment on port 80, there may not be a web.config file in c:\Inetpub\wwwroot. In this case, you need to update your web.config file manually. During the installation process, extra tags are added to the bottom of the web.config file. The tags contain the following text:

3

If your web.config file is not in the default location, configure and copy these tags to the correct web.config file. Note: These tags must be at the end of your web.config file, after the tag, but before the tag.

Configuring the web.config tags Each setting consists of two lines: a comment line (contained within !-- and --) and the actual tag. Before copying the tags, you need to first configure the settings for your deployment. For each tag line (other than comment lines), update the information in the value section that is contained within the set of double quotes. For example, if your authentication mode is Enterprise, replace value="secWinAD" with value"secEnterprise".

Authentication mode

• •

In the value section, specify the authentication method that matches your BusinessObjects Enterprise deployment. Ensure that you type the full authentication name (secWinAD, secEnterprise, and so on). Note: Single Sign On works only with Windows NT and AD authentication. Single Sign On is not supported for Enterprise or LDAP authentication and users in BusinessObjects Enterprise must have blank passwords.

Central Management Server

• •

In the value section, within the quotations, specify the name of your CMS.

This tag contains a comma-separated list of BusinessObjects Enterprise ProgIDs. You can specify which BusinessObjects Enterprise objects you want to exclude from your SharePoint deployment. These object types can still exist in your BusinessObjects Enterprise system, but this tag provides a means for your to filter out unwanted types in your SharePoint deployment.

Tracing

• •

Change this value to True if you want to enable tracing. For more information about tracing, refer to the “Troubleshooting” chapter in the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit Administrator’s Guide.

Credential Prompt

• •

If you want to enable the logon page, change the value to True. If the value is False, the system will use the SharePoint Server's administrator account to login. You also can use the following to specify the username and password: Username" user --> Password"

Analytic Viewer object types

• •

In the value section, specify the objects that Analytic Viewer can view.

Configuring the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit General considerations

General considerations This section provides information about creating additional SharePoint sites, updating managed paths, and updating virtual directories.

Creating additional SharePoint sites When you create a new SharePoint site, you need to provide web parts to the virtual server web part repository. Ensure that you install BusinessObjectsEnterprise.Sharepoint.CAB before you use the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit with your new site. Use stsadm.exe to install the CAB file that is located at c:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\ SharePoint Web Part Package. For more information on using stsadm.exe, refer to your SharePoint documentation.

In addition, update the web.config file that is specific to your new SharePoint site. For more information on updating the web.config file, see “Updating web.config” on page 17.

Updating managed paths During the installation process, the setup program excludes specific BusinessObjects Enterprise URLs from the SharePoint system. These paths are excluded to ensure that the web parts can communicate with BusinessObjects Enterprise. If your SharePoint deployment and BusinessObjects Enterprise deployment are on the same port, but not on port 80, you need to update the managed paths. This update is important when you run BusinessObjects Enterprise and Windows SharePoint Services or Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 on the same machine. Run stsadm.exe with the following parameters to update the managed paths: “c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\60\BIN\stsadm.exe” -o addpath -url http:// Machine_name:port// -type exclusion

22

The following lists the values to be used in when you update the managed paths:

• • • • •

crystalreportviewers115 analysishelp businessobjects styles analysisviewer

Updating virtual directories If you are deploying the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI R2 Portal Integration Kit to a SharePoint site that is not on the default web site, you need to define a new virtual directory in IIS to point to CrystalReportsViewers115. For more information about defining a new virtual directory, refer to the BusinessObjects Enterprise Installation Guide, which is included with your BusinessObjects Enterprise product distribution. If you are using a non-default port (that is, a port other than port 80), and BusinessObjects Enterprise is not on the same port, you need to create virtual servers, which point to the folders in the corresponding virtual servers installed with BusinessObjects Enterprise on port 80. The following list includes the names of the virtual servers that you must create:

• • • • •

Note that “BusinessObjects” is required only if you want to access the Central Management Console, the BusinessObjects Enterprise web desktop, and other sample desktops from this alternative port.
