Tell your child to ask for help from an adult if he or she is bullied.

2. Teach your child how to respond. Your child should look a bully in the eye and stay calm. Your child might say, in a firm voice: “I don’t like what you’re doing. Stop it now.” Then your child should walk away. 3. Urge your child to get help. Tell your child to ask for help from an adult if he or she is bullied. Your child

Some kids use their fists to bully other children. Others tease, make threats or spread rumors online. Bullying takes many forms—and it’s always wrong. A child who is bullied may: ◆◆ ◆◆Be afraid to go to school. ◆◆ ◆◆Lose confidence. ◆◆ ◆◆Become depressed. This is why you’ll want to take steps to protect your child from bullying. Here are four steps you can take: 1. Talk with your child about bullying. Even if you don’t think your child is a target, ask about it. You might start by asking: “How are things going at school?” or, “What do you think of the other kids in your class?” It’s good to ask questions like this. Kids sometimes don’t want to admit that they’re being picked on.

CIGARETTE-FREE STRESS RELIEF Put some calm into your quit-smoking plan If you have ever tried to quit smoking, you know it’s not an easy thing. It can be even harder when you have a bad day at work. Or a flat tire. Or a bill that’s late. Really, any stressful moment can trigger a craving. And if you give in and light up, you might feel like it’s no use trying to quit. Take heart. There are other ways to relax besides smoking a cigarette. Here are a few nerve-calmers that can help you find peace in a smoke-free life. 1. Take a short stroll. A quick walk around the block can ease stress and the urge to smoke. It might even put you in a better mood. 2. Chat with a friend. Pick up the phone and talk about your day with someone you trust.

3. Find distraction. Do something fun for a few minutes. Play a game. Or listen to a soothing song. 4. Find a quiet moment. When you start to feel stressed, close your eyes and sit quietly. It may help to picture yourself in a relaxing place, such as beside a peaceful stream. 5. Go for a soothing massage. You might not realize how much tension your muscles can hold. Try giving your neck or shoulders a quick rub to relax. 6. Think happy thoughts. Quitting smoking is one of the healthiest things you can do. And you’ll save money. Focusing on the good you’re doing may help get you through a stressful moment and cravings. 7. Take a cool drink of water. Caffeine in coffee or tea can make you feel nervous and make your stress worse. So try cutting back. For help quitting smoking, talk with your provider. Ask him or her

WHY YOU NEED A PAP TEST A Pap test can save a woman’s life. It can find early signs of cancer in the cervix, the lower part of the womb. When it’s caught early, the chance of curing this cancer is very high. Even better, a Pap test can help prevent cancer. It can find cells that could turn into cancer so they can be treated. Most women should have regular Pap tests starting at age 21. Ask your doctor how often you should be tested.

Be prepared Be aware: Some things can cause wrong test results. To be sure your next Pap test is accurate: ◆◆   Have the test when you don’t have your period. ◆◆   Try to be tested 10 to 20 days after the first day of your last period. Also, for two days before your Pap test: ◆◆   Don’t have sex. ◆◆   Don’t use tampons. ◆◆   Don’t use any kind of vaginal douche, cream or medicine. Schedule your test today. Contact your provider.

Fuente: American Academy of Pediatrics

3. Busque algo que lo distraiga. Haga algo entretenido por algunos minutos. Juego a algo. O escuche una canción relajante. 4.
