Promotes Impulse Buying = higher sales By having inventory on hand, you can better control your ordering. This allows you to buy in larger volume so you can take advantage of 6 packs and special discounts. Expanding demonstration items and inventory should be your first goal after becoming a Pure Romance Consultant. Carrying inventory increases sales and reduces expenses incurred through Backordered products. Remember, women are impulse buyers, and they love being able to take their products home the night of the party. Women tend to be impulse buyers and will purchase more when they are able to take their products home the night of the party. Carrying inventory increases sales and reduces your expenses incurred through backordered products. Carrying inventory is the most popular and widely practiced way to fulfill customer orders. It allows you to fully take advantage of an increased Buying Discount and special discounts offered to Consultants. How you purchase inventory and the special discounts you take advantage of can make a major difference in the amount you can earn. When you take advantage of special savings, it is possible to add an extra 10% in profit to your Buying Discount. There are several different ways you can use your party profits to build your inventory. Here are a couple ideas to help you quickly build your inventory:
1
1.
Pay yourself a percentage of your profits. When you are a Sr. Consultant, you are earning 45% from your party sales. Pay yourself 50% of those profits and reinvest 50% of the profits into your business. When you hold a $500 party – the Pure Romance average – you will have a profit of $225. Pay yourself 1⁄2 of this profit = $112.50 and reinvest the other $112.50 into your inventory. You will be able to add $200 in product to your inventory. After 10 – 12 parties, you will have over $2,000 in your inventory!
2.
Pay yourself a set amount per party. For example, pay yourself $15 per hour estimating 5 hours per party (including travel and paperwork). You would pay yourself $75 per party and reinvest the remainder of your profits into your business. When you take the same $500 party with $225 in profit – you are now investing $150 into your business which equals about $275 in additional inventory. After 10 – 12 parties you will have close to $3,000 in your inventory!
When reinvesting in your inventory and building it to a healthy level, you want to stock the items you sell most often first. Typically what you demonstrate during a party is what you will sell the most. Review your inventory before a party and adjust your demo accordingly to demonstrate the items on you have on hand. For example, if you have 3 B.O.B.’s in inventory and no Daddy from the Nati’, you will want to spend more time demonstrating B.O.B. and you may not want to mention Daddy from the Nati’. Even though you sell what you show, do not make the mistake of trying to show everything. Your demonstration should not be longer than 1 to 1-‐1⁄4 hours. If you are new in the business, it may help to discuss with your sponsor or up-‐line director what to stock first. We recommend building your liquid line first. Liquid items are less expensive so you can get more at a time, they are heavier to ship – so you will save on shipping and the liquid line typically accounts for more than half of most sales. With inventory on hand, you will be able to process orders with ease and save on shipping charges. HOW MUCH STOCK DO I NEED TO HAVE? Now you know how to build an inventory, but how much inventory should you be maintaining? The recommended amount by Pure Romance is $1,000 per party you want to hold per week. Not only should you have this amount in inventory, but you also need a healthy balance between the different categories. The best way to maintain your inventory is to reorder everything you sell. This will keep your inventory full and your customers happy!
ORGANIZING YOUR INVENTORY! Benefits of organizing your products • When your products are neatly organized, you won’t be digging through totes trying to find a particular item or remember if you have it in stock or not. • Your sales will increase because your customers will be able to see your products in the Ordering Room and you’ll be able to provide faster service.

• You can spend more time educating customers, up-‐selling and asking for bookings and recruits rather than wasting time looking for product. • Potential Hostesses will be more likely to book their own party when you are professional and organized versus appearing unorganized and flustered. • When party guests see how easy it is to set up for a party, they will be more likely to become a Consultant. • Placing future orders to replenish your inventory is easier because you can determine which products you need at a glance. WHERE TO STORE YOUR INVENTORY AND DEMOS Having a dedicated space for your inventory and your business is vital. If everything is centrally located, you will be able to access your inventory and business supplies without disorganization being a distraction. Consultants with children in the house often wonder where they will keep their inventory. You can try the following: • Store inventory in a closet that has a lock. • Under the bed is a popular choice. • If you can’t keep your totes completely out of sight, try organizing your products so the bedroom accessories are on the bottom and the lotions, bath and body items are on the top.
WAYS TO ORGANIZE YOUR PRODUCT • In the beginning, basic totes are sufficient to organize the product you have. You can find 30-‐quart Rubbermaid® totes in solid colors at most office or home supply stores. National retailers, like Wal-‐ Mart, sell totes in three or four different colors for under $4.00. • Use one tote to organize your demo items • One tote for lubricants, lotions, sprays and creams. Normally you will want to carry 4 bottles of the top 4
selling lotions, sprays, lubricants, etc. • Dedicate another tote to bedroom accessories. Most Consultants carry two of each of their top selling bedroom accessories and four to six of items like Super Stretch and the Jelly Tool Belt. Typically, you can fit approximately 20 – 25 products in a tote with a little extra room for additional lotions and other products.
ORGANIZING LARGER AMOUNTS OF INVENTORY As your inventory grows, you will want to add organizers to your totes to keep like items together so you can find them easily. The following are some ways to accomplish this: • If you sell the 5 pack of Great Head or Coochy Variety pack separately, you can save the durable bags for organizing your stock. Put items like Basic Instinct, Like A Virgin and Booty Eaze in their own bag for an easy to locate solution. These bags are lightweight and will help you to save space in your totes. • Utilize the smaller boxes that Pure Romance uses to ship product. Just cut the top flaps off of the boxes and put the entire case in your tote. As the stock lessens, you can consolidate flavors into one box. These boxes stack easily in your larger totes. • Pencil Boxes also come in a variety of sizes and work well to keep smaller jars in order. You can fit lubricant jars in a large pencil box. Label the side of the box for easy identification. • When it comes to setting up for the party, simply lift off the top row to expose the bottom layer and place the top layer on the table. You can set up for a party in under ten minutes. If you’re really motivated, you can line the trays with fabric after fitting them together for a more attractive display. • Drawer organizers can be added to your totes to organize smaller products. Just search for the styles that fit best in your totes. Since the organizers come in various sizes, you should be able to arrange them to fit, and many snap together. In a 30-‐qt. Tote, you can fit two rows high; just place a light piece of wood/cardboard between them. • This will allow you to keep the bedroom accessories separated from each other and leave the batteries in without them turning on when transporting. • You can also use Pure Romance drawstring bags to organize bedroom accessories with no fuss.

• Some Consultants use a tool bag that has pockets on the outside to store demo lotions. This is great for avoiding leaks by keeping bottles upright. You can fit every single one of our items that is a bottle or jar in this type of bag. You can typically find this style tool bag at Home Depot. • You can also use a clear shoe organizer to store some of your smaller items. All you have to do is un-‐ roll the shoe bag, hang it up or lay it on a table and you’re done. Label each pocket with the product name and price. • Another alternative for storing demo products is to purchase a couple of folding/rolling crates and drawer-‐ stands in which to place them. The crates look like a big milk crate when opened and have a handle that extends upwards (like a suitcase). • Eventually you may want to “graduate” from totes to mobile toolboxes with wheels. You can find a selection of these toolboxes at hardware stores (i.e., Lowe’s, Home Depot, Wal-‐Mart, etc.). There are many different options that provide different compartments and drawers that can be useful in organizing smaller products.
• You can purchase a set of drawers to fit in the crate to keep your products organized. For the drawers, purchase silverware containers (from the dollar store) that have four vertical slots and one horizontal slot. This holds five bedroom accessories and still leaves room for a toy next to the silverware container and in front of it. Label each slot so you can do a quick inventory after each party. This keeps the bedroom accessories separated without having to use plastic bags. • Mobile toolboxes look like a big bin but have an extending handle and big rubber wheels. On the top exterior are two lids that, when opened, have a compartment with several squares, great for small items like Basic Instinct, Like A Virgin and Arousal Creams, etc. Inside the toolbox is a holder with a handle so you can just remove that first layer. This is good for medium size items and then below that layer is a big compartment with more storage space. Carry one for bedroom accessories and one for creams and lotions. • Be sure to pick out a manageable-‐sized tote that you can lift and carry. Even though they have wheels you will still need to lift them into your vehicle. If it’s raining you don’t want to drag the wheels through mud and then track the mud throughout the Hostess’s home. • Set up and take down time will be quick because you simply pull the smaller totes out of the larger totes and set them on a table. The larger totes sit nicely on the floor with the products organized inside. When you’re through with ordering, simply put the lids on the smaller totes, drop them in the larger 6
one, and away you go! • If you demo a lot of bedroom accessories at your parties you may want to store them in a gun case. This type of case holds a lot bedroom accessories or toys and provides a lock so you keep the bedroom accessories secure from curious eyes. • At your parties you can take the gun case to the Shopping Room and leave it open so the ladies can see items in more detail. Some women don’t want to show enthusiasm for the bedroom accessories in front of their friends and if they are able to browse without asking you will more than likely increase your sales.
