The Buddy Holly Story is a story of legend. It’s one of those stories where a great deal happens in a short amount of time and then a future of great promise is cut short. The circumstances leading up to the end of Buddy Holly’s life leaves us with a lot of what ifs. There is similarity to the Titanic wherein one decision and all the right circumstances cut short the promising careers of three up and coming rock and roll stars. What would the world of music be like today if all three of them had gone on to continue with their influence in the music world? Sadly we’ll never know, but what they left us with was a great deal of music that even today can bring excitement and energy to young and old. I am amazed at the amount of work Buddy Holly did and how recognizable all of his music is. I find myself saying “Oh my Gosh! He wrote that one too?” What you’re going to see on stage today is not so much a recreation of Buddy Holly but rather a recreation of the excitement of rock and roll. It would be impossible for anyone to be Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens but what it is possible to do is to recreate the excitement and energy of one of the greatest periods in rock and roll history. So get ready to rock and roll as we present to you Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story! Larry Williams Director

He is very happy for the opportunity to be involved in this theater production and to share his love of music and performance. JAKE TURNER (Buddy Holly) Oh Boy! Jake Turner is thrilled to be back in Santa Rosa at 6th Street Playhouse. He grew up listening to Buddy’s songs because it was the music of his fathers childhood. It was the sound of Rock ‘n’ Roll and artists like Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Ray Charles that inspired Jake to play music and sing at a young age. He also followed in his brothers footsteps of a passion for acting and theatre. By age 10 Jake had already been in a few productions and picked up his first guitar. He has been acting, singing and playing guitar to this day. He went on to study theatre at San Dieguito Academy, La Jolla Playhouse and Palomar College where he was seen in The Rimers of Eldridge (Josh), Boy Gets Girl (Howard), Rosencrans and Guildenstern are Dead (Tragidian), Godspell (John the Baptist/ Judas) and Museum (The Guard). He went on to study music at The Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. You may have seen him at 6th Street Playhouse in Singin’ in the Rain (Policeman/ Sound Engineer) or the 2013 cast of The Rocky Horror Show (Riff Raff). Even after moving to Austin, Texas to pursue his music, he could not resist the chance to play one of his heroes. This will also be 707.523.4185 x1

Jake’s first production as Musical Director. After months of Buddy Holly research in Texas and being blessed with very talented cast members, he is Ready Teddy to Rock ‘n’ Roll! AMY WEBBER (Vi Petty/girl group) Amy is absolutely delighted to spend her summer rockin and rollin with this fantastic cast at one of her favorite venues. 6th Street Playhouse has been like a second home to her and she couldn’t be more thrilled to return. Most recently, you may have seen Amy playing Katie Nanna in Mary Poppins at Spreckels Performing Arts Center. Some of her favorite past roles include Jolene Oaks (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Georgie (The Full Monty), Jan (Grease) and Mrs. Mullin (Carousel). As always, Amy would like to thank her parents for all of their love and support, her big sister Sara and her beautiful grandmother, Dolores. BRYCE WILLIAMS (Jerry Allison) This is Bryce’s first performance at Sixth Street Playhouse, and he is glad to be a part of such an ecstatic cast. He has performed in the pit orchestra as a percussionist for shows such as Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserables at the Santa Rosa Junior College, and Oliver at Spreckels Theater in Rohnert Park. He enjoys listening/ playing Classic and Psychedelic Rock (favoring The Flaming Lips and Tame Impala), and is ready to take on the role of Buddy Holly’s number one man, Jerry Allison. Bryce hopes that this show relays his idea (as well as Buddy Holly’s) of music being for all to connect to and enjoy.

ROSHELL POLK (Properties Designer) I first volunteered with 6th Street Playhouse in early 2009. At that time I learned that my passion for haunting garage sales and shopping flea markets could be helpful in locating props for the plays produced at 6th Street Playhouse. Since that time I have worked on a number of productions and have learned a great deal about all the work it takes to see the final outcome of a show. It has been a very enjoyable experience and one rich with meeting wonderful people involved in the process. In addition to locating props for plays at 6th Street, I also work with the events committee to assist with fund raisers for 6th Street. I am a seamstress as well. I have sewn a number of items for 6th Street and also sew for my 7 year old grand niece. GAIL REINE (Costume Designer) By combining my love of volunteering, my graphic design background and my hobby of sewing I found a new niche for myself in costume designing. After assisting other costume designers for a number of

years now that work has now paid off with enough experience to be designing on my own. I am very happy to be a part of the Buddy Holly crew. HISTORY In 2004, two separate theatre companies - The Santa Rosa Players (est. 1971) and Actors Theatre of Sonoma County (est. 1984) - joined forces and transformed the 107-year-old Del Monte cannery in Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square into the 6th Street Playhouse. This $1.3 million dollar renovation resulted in a state-of-the-art theatre facility, which opened to acclaim in 2005. In July 2007, the main stage was named for Santa Rosa businessman and arts patron, G.K. Hardt. In 2009, a second more intimate theatre space - The Studio - was opened. Together, these two theatres are home to dramatic, musical, and improv performances, School of Drama presentations, and a variety of special events. 6th Street Playhouse is honored to have received the City of Santa Rosa Award for Cultural Enrichment and the Sonoma County Historical Society Award for Preservation of a Historical Building. What started as a small endeavor continues to grow year after year with the support of our community. We look forward to continuing to offer outstanding productions and educational programs here at 6th Street Playhouse.
