OVERVIEW: Started his career as a family physician in rural practice in an isolated part of North Central Washington 125 miles from any specialist. Through a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Fellowship he began an academic career emphasizing research and teaching in rural health care and geriatrics. Has served in a dual role as the chief executive officer of a large multispecialty medical group and the senior most medical officer for a health plan.
