Signature British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 Course Information We are pleased to confirm the details of our next series of British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 classes that will be starting on 18th & 20th November 2014. This course is accredited by Signature. In this booklet, you will find information on the course and details of how to apply. Signature qualifications appear on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications framework (SCQF) – BSL Level 1 (5 credit points) equals SCQF Level 4 Intermediate 1/SVQ1. *Please note that the course will not run during the Christmas and Easter Holidays. Cost The cost of the course is £370, this price includes all course and examination fees. If your work is sponsoring you, please ensure that you complete and return the “Confirmation of Booking for Training” form; page 8 must be signed by your employer. For all applications, excluding work sponsored places, a deposit of £100 must be received with the application in order to secure a place on the course. Funding to attend may be available from the Glasgow Society for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb www.gsedd.org.uk and/or other sources. Skills Development Scotland Individual Learning Account Funding This course has been approved for Individual Learning Account (ILA) funding. Individual Learning Accounts (ILAs) are for people who are 16 or over and living in Scotland. You can apply for an ILA if you are not in education, do not have a degree or above and are not taking part in a National training Programme (Modern Apprenticeship, Get Ready for Work or Training for Work). You must also have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on benefits to be eligible to get up to £200 towards the costs of learning or training with an Individual Learning Account from Skills Development Scotland. 3 BSL Level 1 Form - updated March 2014

Individual Learning Accounts are available if you are interested in learning something new or brushing up your skills. There is a wide range of courses to choose from and you can study with any approved Individual Learning Account learning provider, including learning centres, local colleges, universities and private training companies.
