Britain’s largest independent manufacturer of confectionery

1978 Kinnerton was established in 1978, named after the street where Clive Beecham, the founder, lived. Operating with a desk and a typewriter from a small office in Nottingham Place in London, Clive together with Andrew Sellers, a business colleague who joined at the start, created and marketed a small range of novelty confectionery products based around the Disney License which they had exclusively secured. Kinnerton was the first UK company to seriously base its confectionery offerings around the concept of a character merchandising and from day one gained listings with many of the UK’s foremost Grocery and High Street Retailers.

1988 Kinnerton committed itself to a manufacturing base by buying one of its suppliers, Gilchris Confectionery, which had recently relocated its factory to Fakenham, Norfolk.

COMPANY HISTORY

1999 Kinnerton took steps to become the world’s first large-scale, ‘nut free’ segregated factory with a £1,000,000+ investment aimed at making our chocolates ‘safe’ for the million or so people in the UK whose lives are affected by Nut Allergies.

2005 In April 2005, Kinnerton became part of Zetar plc, an AIM listed company, which is a group comprising two divisions, Confectionery and Natural & Premium Snacks.

2012 In 2012 Zetar plc was acquired by Zertus UK Holding Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zertus GmbH, a business founded in 1862. Zertus is a privately run company with holdings in the food and confectionery business within Europe.

Present day Kinnerton develop an extensive range of seasonal and everyday confectionery with a range that includes indulgent count lines, clusters, easter eggs, advent calendars, chocolate figurines as well as luxury and novelty shaped biscuits.
