Bring on SPRING SPRING IS ALL ABOUT NEW BEGINNINGS! AS THE WEATHER TURNS WARM AND BEAUTIFUL, THERE ARE PLENTY OF NEW, EXCITING THINGS TO LOOK AT BOTH INSIDE AND OUT.

Plenty of new shops are in bloom this spring. From the runway to the red carpet to beautiful boutiques, the streets transform and shoppers spring into action to check out the latest trends, the newest shops, and the most fascinating additions to the spring line.

ON 57 TH STREET, there will be a new Ermenegildo Zegna flagship duplex store adjacent to Bulgari at 730 Fifth Avenue in the Crown Building. This stunning shop offers clothing that keeps up with the latest fashion trends and offers everything an aspiring shopper could ask for. From gorgeous shoes to stylish scarves and hats, this store has it all. ON FIFTH AVENUE, there are plenty of big changes this year. Wempe, which is currently located at 700 Fifth Avenue at 55th Street, is expanding yet again. The latest expansion will include the two adjacent spaces formerly occupied by Swarovski and Lindt. The new store will be appropriately called Wempe XXL. Coming to the corner Gucci building, Coach will have a new mega-flagship at number 685. This expansion comes in the face of recent growth for the Coach brand, which has been updating its stores and its brands to attract new customers after losing ground for the past several years. The store will stand alongside a new Stuart Weitzman boutique in the same building. Adidas, at 565 Fifth Avenue, will expand to a massive three floors, making it the flagship store for the North American area. G Star – RAW took a spot at number 475 to round out the Fifth Avenue collection.

THE STREETS TRANSFORM AND SHOPPERS SPRING INTO ACTION

ON MADISON AVENUE, Swiss watchmaker Breitling has unveiled their largest store worldwide at 575 Madison Avenue. The two level emporium, which has double-height windows and more than 90 feet of wraparound sidewalk frontage, comes complete with their own museum. British stationers Smythson celebrated a move to 667 Madison Avenue directly across from Barneys Madison Avenue, 61st Street corner, with an exhibit that included historical representations from their archives. The exhibit included such well-known names as Princess Diana, Katharine Hepburn, and Sigmund Freud. De Beers Diamond Jewelers has also relocated from the corner of Fifth Avenue and 55th Street to 716 Madison Avenue. Several international brands are also moving to MADISON AVENUE this spring. Italian jewelry brand Vhernier is set to open its first NYC store at 783 Madison Avenue, where it hopes to build a base that will increase its sales throughout America. Giuseppe Zanotti recently debuted its expansion on Madison Avenue, taking over the space next door at 806 Madison Avenue. Sonia Rykiel has once again returned to the Avenue, number 816 on the same block as Proenza Schouler and Dolce & Gabbana Children. ON THE UPPER E AST SIDE, Fox’s Designer OffPrice will open a flagship location in the entire building at 1501 Third Avenue. Danish home goods store Flying Tiger will launch its second stateside store at 1282 Third Avenue between 73rd and 74th streets, where it will add color and whimsy to the Upper East Side area. The brand is known for its fun, excitement, and affordable décor: few things in the store are over $10. Nautical brand Saint James is also moving to 41 East 78th Street. This store will place more emphasis on the navy background and the trademarked striped shirt that characterize the brand.

ON THE UPPER WEST SIDE, French eyewear brand Anne & Valentin will move into the former Le Sportsac store at 248 Columbus Avenue. Couture Kids will have a second NYC store at 324 Columbus Avenue between West 75th and West 76th Streets. The store is known for carrying luxury clothes for babies through teenagers. IN MIDTOWN, another Nordstrom is coming to 3 Columbus Circle. This location will be all about catering to men: not only will it offer menswear, it will have a bar and other entertainment venues intended for men’s enjoyment. Vineyard Vines is building a fabulous flagship store featuring men’s, women’s, and children’s accessories and apparel at Grand Central Terminal next to Banana Republic, 87 E 42nd Street. Papyrus, which celebrates life through greeting cards and stationery, is opening yet another new store in the Garment Center at 1359 Broadway between West 36th and West 37th Streets. DOWN IN FL ATIRON, Rituals Cosmetics has found a new home as it replaces Lucky Brand at 172 Fifth Avenue. Tory Sport by Tory Burch has been launched at 131 Fifth Avenue, just a few blocks from Lululemon and Bandier. The addition of Tory Sport finishes forming the “athleisure” avenue. Eager shoppers awaiting Todd Snyder’s first stateside retail store, which will appear at 23 East 26th Street, will have to hold out just a little bit longer: the store isn’t set to open until the fall. IN SOHO, there are plenty of changes for the spring 2016 shopping season. Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster, which prides itself on its “high-end experimentation,” debuted its first North American Store at 79 Grand Street. Marissa Webb, which offers a variety of unique women’s fashion options, has made its pop-up permanent at 104 Grand Street. Dolce & Gabbana is opening what has been described as a “shopping empire” at 155 Mercer Street, where more than 50 feet of street frontage will make incredible storefront displays a reality. Toronto-based Canada Goose will be arriving at 101 Wooster Street, while Ted Baker London will fill the space at 117 Wooster Street. James Perse is coming to 285 Spring Street. John Hardy, which offers luxury jewelry and accessories and is based in Southeast Asia, will take all three floors at 118 Prince Street. Dead Sea mineral-based skincare product company Arianna is opening a second Manhattan shop at 193 Spring Street.

Meanwhile, Galeria Melissa is moving to 500 Broadway. Louis Vuitton expanded its downtown flagship at 116 Greene Street. The building was formerly occupied by Fendi, which relocated to 104 Greene Street. IN NOLITA, Leyton Astor Clothing Co. will move to 199 Mott Street. Space NK Apothecary, which offers the latest skin, hair, and body care products, is set to open its doors at 31 Prince Street. IN TRIBECA, Bluemercury will be moving to 275 Greenwich Street, just a block north from the future Target, which is coming to 255 Greenwich Street. IN THE WEST VILL AGE, Orogold luxury skincare and Rituals Cosmetics will open side by side at 333 Bleecker Street. They’ll be next to Larsson and Jennings at number 337. Britain’s Paul Smith took 357 Bleecker Street, joining the new shop lineup as it took over the store previously occupied by Sucre. IN THE E AST VILL AGE, Trash and Vaudeville reopened in a new location. The store can now be found at 96 East 7th Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue A. IN CHELSE A, Barney’s is back home with a sprawling, four floor emporium, 101 Seventh Avenue at 17thStreet. It doesn’t extend quite as far as the original store, but it brings the landmark store back to its original home. IN HUDSON YARDS, more than 100 stores, restaurants, and a massive Equinox gym concept complete with a hotel, fitness club, and spa will be the site of NYC’s first Neiman Marcus. The goal of Hudson Yards is to create an expanded neighborhood that will be of use to New York residents, and it appears to be on its way to accomplishing exactly that. SPRING IS COMING, and with it, some stunning changes to New York’s shopping landscape.
