Brief Introduction To Dr. M.H.Faruquee MBBS, MPH

Dr. M. H. Faruquee is a public health expert having more than 15 years of experience in occupational and environmental health, nutrition, health promotion, health care services, community and local Government institutional development. He joined Bangladesh University of Health Sciences as Assistant Professor, Department of Occupational and Environmental Health. He is one of the contributors of a number of researches in the field of public health. Some of his study/researches have been published in international (14) and national (36) professional journals. He contributed in developing a good number of training and communication modules/manuals/materials on occupational health, nutrition, hygiene and arsenic related issues organized by different international and national level organizations. He worked in a number of projects as Consultant, where he worked with rural community people and LGIs. He worked as Deputy Country Representative in Asia Arsenic Network, a Japan based NGO for about 6 years. Throughout his activities he also proved his capacity in policy making, organizational capacity building, strategy development, network development among government non-government high officials and professionals, community development program and organization management as well.Dr. Faruquee conducted some survey, researches and evaluation studies as Public Health Expert with Asian Development Bank, World Bank, UNDP, WHO, UNICEF, , DFID, JICA, WaterAid, World Vision and GTZ namely; a) Assessing the Impact of User Fees on UPHC–Reviewing Health Voucher and User Fees Exemptions (Package No. S15 & 16), Second Urban Primary Health Care Project, Ministry Of Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives (MOLGRD&C), Local government division b) Mid-term evaluation and baseline study: World Vision Programs in Potenga, Assashuni, Kalmakanda, Morelganj, Satkhira sadar, Birampur, Panch Bibi c) Service Availability Mapping in Four Districts to Assess Adequacy of Maternal and Neonatal Health Infrastructure and Staffing Including Training Needs, conducted by ACPR, funded by UNICEF. d) Training module for solid waste handlers of DCC solid waste management center. e) Translated the training module on Hospital Waste Management for WHO f) Training module on Healthy Food Market for vendors, market committees and Sanitary Inspectors for WHO g) Evaluation Study: Bangladesh Arsenic Mitigation Water Supply Project (BAMWSP),Mitigation and Beneficiary Assessment, funded by World Bank, h) Evaluation Study: Building Community Based Arsenic Mitigation Response Capacity in Muradnagar, Serajdikhan and Bhanga Upazilas of Bangladesh, funded by WHO-UNF/UNFIPUNICEF, i) Mid Term Evaluation of Arsenic Mitigation Program conducting by HEED Bangladesh, j) Development of “Toolkits for Safe Work for Young Workers and Workplace Improvement for Employers” for ILO-Urban Informal Economy (UIE) Project k) Development of sector development program on Hospital Waste Management for urban Public and Environmental Health Program funded by Asian Development Bank l) Training on ‘Ecological Water Treatment Plant’ for engineers of Green Hill supported by WaterAid Bangladesh.
