The Big Horn is the animal symbol of Rocky Mountain National Park and is also Colorado’s official stale animal. They are most, often found in Horseshoe Park in the eastern side of the National Park and on Specimen Mountain in the western part of the Park. These areas are reached via Trail Ridge Road. Their horns are not shed but continually form from the base, laying down “annual rings”. A ram with a three quarter curl is about 10 years old.
