Pa erson: Dead Treez Friday | Noon‐5pm | Fuller Building, 808 Commonwealth Avenue Dead Treez showcases the ar st’s mixed‐media installa ons and jacquard‐woven photo tapestries that explore class, gender, and race through the lens of popular culture, social media, dress, and personal adornment. Pa erson’s highly embellished, illuminated imagery is intended to cap vate the viewer in order to look beyond her mesmerizing surfaces for deeper meanings. Influenced by Jamaica’s dancehall culture, Jamaican‐born Pa erson explores the paradoxical rela onship between tradi onal gender codes and the bombas c aesthe cs of dancehall pageantry, presen ng a complex vision of masculinity. Dead Treez is an immersive medita on on dancehall fashion and culture, regarded as a celebra on of the disenfranchised in postcolonial Jamaica. Ebony G. Using various media idioms such as classic Hollywood film, fashion photography, and music videos, Gu errez’s haun ngly seduc ve imagery explores the construc on of gender and self. In each of her projects Gu errez casts herself in different roles—from pop star, to Italian heiress, to exo c dancer. While her characters appear familiar, they are not representa ons of reality; rather, they are hyperbolized manifesta ons of feminine glamour, desire, and sexuality. 1. PRACTICE: Practice is open on Friday to all crews and scullers. The FALS Docks will be staffed as of 10:30 AM on Friday, October 21st. Safety and insurance considerations mandate that all boats be off the water by 6:00 PM. No boats will be permitted to launch after 5:30 PM. The course will not be open for practice Saturday or Sunday. Crews violating this rule may be penalized or disqualified. No turning is permitted between the Finish and Start lines in either the return or racing lanes.
