BOISE RESCUE MISSION MINISTRIES HOLIDAY EVENT SCHEDULE Thank you for your interest in volunteering! Before completing the volunteer form, please read through our holiday opportunities. We will be filling around 2,000+ volunteer slots between October 1st and December 31st, with the majority reserved by November 1. Our needs fluctuate on a daily basis and your patience is greatly appreciated. Step 1: Review opportunities on the following pages. Step 2: Note your top three choices and times for volunteering. You will need to enter your choices on the Holiday Volunteer Form. Step 3: Complete the Holiday Volunteer Form on the website. Do not reserve volunteer spaces for others if you are unsure of their ability to commit. Step 4: Within seven (7) business days you should receive your holiday volunteer confirmation or waiting list email. Volunteer slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you do not hear from us within seven business days, email [email protected]. Be sure to include your phone number in the email. Step 5: Should you need to adjust or cancel your plans, please notify us immediately by phone or email, (208) 639-3297 or [email protected].

HOLIDAY OPPPORTUNITIES: To assist with any of the opportunities below, please complete the Holiday Volunteer Form on the website. Please Note: SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SIGN YOU UP. The Volunteer Dept. will contact you to confirm whether or not you are on the list and will send you an email with instructions. Service Parties (20-50 volunteers for each event – men, women, and children) What: Assist us in completing a wide variety of tasks in the warehouse and shelters. Meet new people while making a difference. Where: Ministry Center. 308 S 24th St, Boise, ID 83702. Park vehicles on 24th St. When:  Friday, November 7, 6 to 8 pm  Tuesday, November 11, 6-8 pm  Wednesday, December 3, 6 to 8 pm FULL  Tuesday, December 9, 6 to 8 pm

Albertson’s Turkey Roundup (Thanksgiving) (40-60 Volunteers--men, women and children 10 or older) What: Greet shoppers, assist staff in passing out needs lists to shoppers, and take donations of turkeys and other items. Where: 22 Albertson’s locations across the Treasure Valley, including stores in Emmett, Payette, Mtn. Home, and Baker City. Please speak to Volunteer Coordinators about specific locations. When: Thursday, November 6 Shifts available:  6-10am  10am-2pm  2-6pm

Great Thanksgiving Banquet, Nampa (200-350 Men, Women, Children, Groups, Bilingual) What: Approximately 200 pre-registered guests each hour will attend a brief chapel service, enjoy a delicious meal, and receive a generous food box if needed. We anticipate serving 1,800 meals that day. Most volunteers typically work two-hour shifts in a variety of roles. Registration volunteers should ideally be bilingual and willing to work longer shifts. Meal times are 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6pm. Where: First Church of the Nazarene, 601 16th Ave. S, Nampa ID 83651 When: Wednesday, November 26 Volunteer shifts:  10:30am – 12:00pm (orientation at 10:30a)  12:00pm-2:00pm (orientation at 11:45a)  2:00pm-4:00pm (orientation at 1:45p)  4:00pm-6:00pm (orientation at 3:45p) FULL  6:00pm-close (clean-up) (orientation at 5:45p) Registration Shifts:  10:00-2:00 pm (orientation at 10a)  2:00pm -6:00pm (orientation at 1:30p) Great Thanksgiving Banquet, Boise (100-150 volunteers – men, women, and children) What: Approximately 150 pre-registered guests every hour will experience a brief chapel service, be served a delicious meal, and receive a generous food box if needed. We anticipate serving 500 meals that day. Volunteers will typically work two-hour shifts in a wide variety of roles. Meal times are 11am, 12pm, and 1pm. More meal times may be added based on need. Registration volunteers should ideally be bilingual and willing to work longer shifts. Where: The Cathedral of the Rockies, 717 North 11th Street, Boise, ID 83702 When: Wednesday, November 26 Volunteer shifts:  8:30am – 10:30am (Event setup) FULL  10:30am – 1:00pm (Event help as assigned) FULL  12:30pm – 3:00pm (Event help as assigned; assist with clean-up, loading and unloading trucks) Registration Shift: 10:30am-1:30pm

Lifetime Fitness Turkey Day 5K What: BRMM is benefitting from this event. Volunteers will help with various positons throughout the race (collecting donations, handing out water to racers, etc). You can visit http://www.turkeyday5k.com/ for more info about the race. To volunteer, please specify your interest in this event on the application, and your info will be sent to the race coordinators, who will contact you from there. Where: Downtown Boise When: Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, various opportunities from 6a-12p

Toy loading, Toys for Tots (10-20 Men, Women, and Children) What: Load one or two large trucks with bags of toys. Where: Meet at Boise Rescue Mission Ministry Center then carpool to Gowen Field. Ministry Center address: 308 S. 24th St., Boise When: Dec. 16, morning hours (Time TBD)

Christmas Banquet, Boise (175-250 Men, Women, Children, Groups) What: Approximately 180 pre-registered guests every hour will experience a brief chapel service, be served a delicious meal, receive toys through Toys for Tots and other sponsors, and, finally, pick-up a generous food box if needed. We anticipate serving 600 meals throughout the day. Volunteers will typically work two-hour shifts in a wide variety of roles. Meal times are 11:00am, 12:00N, 1:00pm. Where: Cathedral of the Rockies 717 N 11th St., Boise, ID 83702 When: Friday, December 19 Volunteer shifts:  10:30am – 1:00pm (Event help as assigned)  12:30pm – 3:00pm (Event help as assigned; assist with clean-up, loading and unloading trucks) Registration Shift: 10:30am-1:30pm FULL

We anticipate serving 2,000 meals throughout the day. Volunteers will typically work two-hour shifts in a wide variety of roles. Meal times are 11:00am, 12:00N, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, 5:00pm, and 6:00pm. Bilingual volunteers are preferred for registration. OTHER VOLUNTEER NEEDS DURING HOLIDAYS SEASON: Christmas “Store” at City Light What: Set up and operate a temporary “store” where moms and dads staying in our shelters can shop for their children’s Christmas presents. **This volunteering opportunity is ideal for older children families (over age 10, please)** Where: City Light Home for Women and Children When: --Friday, December 19, Christmas Store setup (2-5pm, 5-6 people max) --Sunday, December 21, 5-7pm, Christmas Store Shopping (Need 3 greeters, 3 personal shoppers and 3 wrappers) --Monday, December 22; 9a-12p, 1-3p, 6-9p; Christmas Store Shopping (Need 3 greeters, 3 personal shoppers and 3 wrappers) --Tuesday, December 23; 9a-12p, 1-3p, 6-9p; Christmas Store Shopping (Need 3 greeters, 3 personal shoppers and 3 wrappers) --Wednesday, December 24; 9a-12p; Christmas Store Shopping (Need 3 greeters, 3 personal shoppers and 3 wrappers)

Drivers for Ministry Center and Warehouse Operations and Events (Adults 25 years of age or older with a clean driving record, able to drive small trucks, vans, and cars) What: Assist us in the pick up and delivery of items on selected event days and at other times. City Light Home for Women and Children and Valley Women and Children’s Shelter Operations During the Holiday Season (Screened and approved individuals, families and very small groups) Where: City Light Home for Women and Children 1404 West Jefferson St., Boise, 83702 Valley Women and Children’s Shelter 869 W. Corporate Ln., Nampa 83651 When: October 1 – December 31, on a regular and consistent basis What: --Guest Services Helper—Assists with guest check-in, talk to clients, help staff with various needs; 49pm, or can do shifts of 4-7:30pm or 7:30-9pm --Front Desk Helper—help take in donations, entertain children, put things away, anything else staff may need; 2-3 people, 5-8pm --Childcare Assistance—(must pass a background check) help staff watch kids during school holiday breaks; interested volunteers will be connected to the Kid’s Program staff to set up schedule.
