Blue Cross Blue Shield now accepted at Advanced Urgent Care With the recent addition of Blue Cross Blue Shield, Advanced Urgent Care now accept most major insurers including Tri-Care, Aetna, MultiPlan/ Cigna, Beech Street, Medicare. Self-pay with major credit cards or cash is also accepted. Advanced Urgent Care is a walk-in, no appointment necessary high level center with Emergency Medicine physicians always on duty. They treat everything from sniffles to chest pain. It also features CT scans, X-Ray, ultrasound, and on site lab for fast diagnostic and test results. The center is conveniently located at 1980 N. Navy League Gala

The Key West Navy League Commissioning Committee for the Coast Guard Fast Response Cutters cordially invites you to a showing of the epic movie “The Perfect Storm”, starring George Clooney, and a gala reception on Sunday, 10 November, beginning at 6PM, at the Tropic Cinema, 416 Eaton Street, Key West. Kenson Jean-Baptiste, who works at the main detention center on Stock Island, was promoted this week to Sergeant. Congratulations!

A group of German police were in the Florida Keys this week and spent time touring the Sheriff’s Office headquarters and main jail. Groups from the Bomb Squad, Marine Unit Traffic Enforcement and the SWAT team were set up in the parking lot to show them some of our equipment.

Sheriff Ramsay was “strutting his stuff” for charity this past weekend at the Samuel’s House Men in Paradise Fashion Show. The group raised thousands of dollars for the charity and had a great time in the process. Above, a group from Armor Medical attended the show.

Learning to work and working to learn - that is what it is all about in the Sheriff’s Office Cadet and Explorer program. Top left, kids in the Upper Keys post learned report writing last week. Top right and bottom right, Explorers held a car wash in Marathon to raise money for the program. In the picture, Traffic Deputy Tom Hill helped out, along with many other volunteers. Bottom left, cadets learned about Crime Scene investigation from Barney Sajdak. Here is the group with Advisor / SROs Dave Stark and Larry O’Neill.

As outlined in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office General Operations Manual-Chapter 9: B 1-5.  All Monroe County Sheriff’s Office members sworn and non-sworn are required to wear their MCSO identification cards while on duty or in uniform.  If you do not have an identification card, please contact the Human Resources Division at (305) 292-7044, in order to obtain one.

Last week, Sgt. Dennis Coleman’s squad spent time with kids from Switlik School in Marathon for Red Ribbon Week. Kids at the school all signed a pledge to be drug free. In the pictures, Sgt. Coleman and Deputy Chuck Kellenberger with some of the kids at the event.
