On the cover, the active site structure of the oxy complex of the T252A mutant of cytochrome P450cam. The red spheres depict new water molecules that move into the active site owing to oxygen-induced structural changes. Exactly the same structural changes occur in the wild-type enzyme except the mutant is inactive. The mutant structure together with a wealth of biochemical data provide new insights on the role of specific residues in the oxygen activation process.
