3 Installing in a PC 3.1
Common to all..
The BGT36xx Series products are designed to be installed internally in a Personal Computer system motherboard PCI‐ express edge connector socket. Shut down your PC system. Unfasten the screws securing the PC cover and remove carefully to a safe location.
3.1.1
CAUTION! YES, YES! We know they all say this. BUT THIS IS VERY IMORTANT for the BGT36xx Series! The BGT36xx product assembly is susceptible to static discharge damage. For preference ensure that both your PC is grounded and yourself by using an ESD wrist strap. If this is not available, then the risk can be lowered to some extent by ensuring any electrical charge is removed from your person by making contact to an exposed metal surface on the inside or rear of your PC system. This procedure must be performed before removing the product from its safe anti‐static packaging.
3.1.2
Locate a free PCI express x1, x4, x16 motherboard socket which is not SLI or Crossfire linked. Loosen as necessary the securing device to allow the removal of the associated rear chassis metal cover plate.
Page 2 BGT36xx_UG Vers 1.1
3.1.3
Select the required full or half height rear panel for the BGT36xx card and fix to the card as shown below:
3.2
BGT3600, BGT3610 & BGT3630 (Satellite cards only):
3.2.1
Select a suitable +12V 6 pin PCI‐e power connector from the PC system power supply cable harness.
3.2.2
Connect the power supply to the LNB power plug on the top side of the PCB assembly. Insert the BGT card into the chosen socket and after carefully checking the card for alignment secure the card’s panel to the rear of the PC chassis using the cover plate securing device. n.b. 3.2.1 Not applicable to the BGT3630, which does not have an external LNB supply.
Page 3 BGT36xx_UG Vers 1.1
3.2.3
Replace and lock into position the PC system cover.
3.2.4
Check the quality of your TV broadcast signal systems (satellite, terrestrial, cable as appropriate) before attaching to your product. To avoid damage to the card, checks should include continuity of your cabling, for wire shorts between the outer sheath to inner core of the cable and F‐connector/IEC Antenna connector termination. Connect separate cables between the product F‐connector plugs and two digital satellite LNBs.
3.2.5
Attach the card via its IEC Antenna socket to an antenna or Cable that meets the requirements for your local area. Please be advised that the card must be attached as the first device on your antenna signalling system; downstream connection from a set top box must be avoided.
3.3
BGT3620, BGT3630 & BGT3650:
3.3.1
Insert the BGT card into the chosen socket and after carefully checking the card for alignment secure the card’s panel to the rear of the PC chassis using the cover plate securing device.
3.3.2
Replace and lock into position the PC system cover.
3.3.3
Check the quality of your TV broadcast signal systems (terrestrial, cable as appropriate) before attaching to your product. To avoid damage to the card, checks should include continuity of your cabling, for wire shorts between the outer sheath to inner core of the cable and F‐connector/IEC Antenna connector termination.
3.3.4
Attach the card via its’ IEC Antenna socket to an antenna or Cable connection that meets the requirements for your local area. Please be advised that the card must be attached as the first device on your antenna signalling system; downstream connection to a set top box must be avoided.
3.4
Common to all:
3.4.1
Please ensure that your TV viewing and recording application supports the appropriate decoder for the streams you wish to view / record. e.g. H.264 for High Definition channels.
3.4.2
Support for external audio/video equipment (DVD player, Set‐Top‐Box, VCR, Camcorder) connection is provided by the use of the audio/video adaptor cable. The adapter supports several connector formats; RGB video‐ red/green/blue phono sockets, component video‐ red/green/blue phono sockets, S‐video – mini DIN socket, composite video – yellow phono socket and stereo audio – red/white phono sockets.
Windows 7 Driver Installation – Common to all

All future driver/software will be available for download from our website. We choose to distribute the software like this, rather than include a CD in the product package we have sent, to ensure that you always have the very latest versions of drivers and software as we continually work to improve our products. The reduced manufacturing materials required also helps to keep our products greener. We hope you appreciate this approach ‐ if not please tell us via the contact form on the website, we always try to ensure our customer preferences are considered.
4.1.5
When Windows detects the card you will see the message below. Just close the message window.

4.2.7
Windows will then ask you to restart the system. Restart. 4.2.8
Ensure when Media Center is restarted that a new set‐up and re‐tune are completed.
5 Windows Media Center: 5.1.1
DVB‐T/T2, analogue:
The driver will allow auto detection of all broadcast transmissions. 5.1.2
DVB‐C:
For countries that support free‐to‐cable broadcasts, DVB‐C is supported in Media Center by registering a DVB‐T tuner (DVB‐C MCE) which translates all functions to the DVB‐C driver core. The scanning of the band is only possible after starting MCE, if a rescan is necessary the "ehrcvr" service must be at least stopped or just simply reboot the system. Note: There is no mechanism implemented to detect the scanning of MCE. The scanning algorithm uses a predefined frequency table which will be scanned instead of using the MCE frequencies.

5.2.10 Select Let me configure my TV signal manually.
5.2.11 Vista Media Center Only. Step 5.2.11 should not be required for Windows 7 Media Center:
If you are using DVB‐T/T2 and do not require cable operation, you will need to de‐select the DVB‐C cable option during set‐up (Uncheck 7231 BDA DVBC Tuner (MCE)). Otherwise Media Center can assume the wrong tuner type which can result in DVB‐T/T2 channels not being detected. Then deselect the DVBC Tuners

6 Statutory Requirements
Power Requirements: It is important to check, that by installing your new TV card you are not exceeding the capabilities of your PC's Power Supply Unit. The host must be able to supply adequate power for the TV card and any other auxiliary apparatus drawing power from the host. The power required for your new BGT36xx series TV card is given in the table below: Product BGT3600 BGT3610 BGT3620 BGT3630 BGT3650
3.3V 4.0W TBA 0.8W 1.8W 2.9W

LNB current of 450mA each LNB
Safety considerations when installing new cards: It is essential that when the TV or other option cards are introduced, the minimum creepage and clearances specified in the following table are maintained between the cards and any hazardous voltages. A hazardous voltage is one which exceeds 42.4V peak or 60V dc. If you have any doubt, seek the advice from a competent engineer before installing other adapters into the host equipment. Your TV card itself, neither uses nor generates hazardous voltages.
