Directions to Hopkins Center From Interstate 89: Take exit 18 and follow route 120 north for about 6 miles into Hanover. At the traffic light adjacent to the Mobil Station, bear left (you will now be on Lebanon Street) towards the Business District. Travel on Lebanon Street for about 1/4 mile. At the second right, turn onto Crosby Street. At the next intersection, cross over Wheelock Street and proceed up the hill. The entrance to the BEMA will be the second drive on the right, down behind the dorms. From Interstate 91: Take exit 13 and follow signs to Hanover and Dartmouth College. Proceed through the second light which is the intersection of Main and E. Wheelock. After you pass the Green on your left, the next left will be Observatory Road. Turn left and proceed up the hill. The entrance to the BEMA will be the second drive on the right, down behind the dorms.

A. General

Capacity: 4000 Roped off grassy area in front of the stage Dressing Rooms: None Restrooms: Portajohns that must be arranged for in advance Green Room: Tent behind the stage Loading Access: Trucks drive directly up onto the grass in front of the stage. Limited truck access to the back of the stage. It is a dirt driveway in among trees. Labor: Four full time IATSE Production staff supplemented by IATSE local #919 temporary stagehands and trained workstudy students

B. Stage

Description: The BEMA is an outdoor venue consisting of a roped-off lawn approximately 62’W at the stage end by 146’D by 100’W at the entrance. There is a concrete stage at the north end of the lawn, consisting of a shallow but wide downstage area and a series of shallow, wide built-in risers upstage, split in the middle by a set of stairs leading down to underneath the rear of the stage. There are 2 large bushes in front of the stage framing concrete steps leading up onto the stage. There is another small, earthen stage lined with paving stones on the west side of the lawn, mid way down. Because of the unevenness of the surface, this stage is not used for music or dance performances. North Stage Dimensions and Distances: Downstage Center: flat, rectangular surface: 19’W x 11’D x 2’-9”H Off Left and Off Right of Center area: 5 feet back from the front of the stage = 30’ W x 6’D Upstage of Center area: stepped 6”H x ~2’-9”D rises built into the concrete. There is a staircase that descends down to the backstage area in the center of this area. Please see photos at the end of this document. Stage Floor: Mostly level concrete.

C. Power/Lighting

There is no permanent stage lighting, dimming or control equipment at the BEMA-all must be brought in on a show by show basis. As there is only one power source, a generator will be required if dimmable lighting and audio reinforcement are both required. D. Sound System
