Activities Booklet Summer Term 2014

FROM THE HEAD Dear Parents,

The extra-curriculum programme plays a major part in extending and developing the children's interests and we hope that you and your children will enjoy reading and deciding which of the varied activities they will join for the term. The staff have an enormous range of experience and expertise to bring to the children, enhancing their personal development and we hope everyone will take advantage of it. My thanks to James Fleet who put the booklet together and, of course, all the staff who are offering such a diverse range of clubs.

Yours sincerely, Lynn Duncan

The Mill Hill Foundation seeks to offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities through which pupils can develop their social, sporting and cultural abilities and interests. This term pupils at Belmont have over sixty clubs open to them before school during lunchtimes and after school. Please note: Activities in bold are compulsory if selected and take priority over other activities. The activities are applicable to the year groups in brackets. Those marked * have an extra charge. All after school clubs will also require a letter from the activity resources display due to after school supervision records and/or payment is required; these can be found in the Jubilee building, ground floor level. All other clubs will require a standard activity letter that is available from the teacher in charge of the club.

ALL reply slips for after school clubs should be returned to Mrs McDavid in the School Office, slips for clubs running during the day should be returned to the teacher in charge of that particular activity. Pupils must sign up to clubs via a permission slip so we can collate accurate registers. Please note that parents will only be informed about changes to an after school club (either by email or text) if the permission slip has been received in the School Office. The following information is intended to help pupils and parents learn a little more about the activities and clubs offered at Belmont. Children are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities to foster their talents, try new skills and become an active member of Belmont community. Whether pupils’ interests lie in books, performing, arts, crafts, sport, music, languages, etc. there is an activity for them to enjoy. If your child is going to miss a session for any reason, then please email both members of staff (Activity leader and Form tutor), this will ensure the teacher knows which pupils are going to be attending the after school club. All clubs start on Tuesday 6th May, and finish Friday 27th June If for any reason a club is cancelled at short notice by the teacher in charge, children will be able to join late room free of charge and therefore be in full supervision. Once started, your child should finish the term of that activity. Places are invariably tight and by taking a place and giving it up a child might miss out on a great opportunity. If a charge is required for a club, it will be offered on a first come, first served basis, payment is for a term and is non-refundable. All clubs will finish at 5pm, unless stated and the member of staff will walk pupils up to the top crossing for pick up. Parents should not pick up at any other place, unless requested by Mr Fleet due to a later than 5pm finish. If pupils are using the school bus service, parents will need to make arrangements with the bus company for a later pick up. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact Mr Fleet either by telephone (020 8906 7276) or e-mail ([email protected]).
