DESULPHURIZATION TECHNOLOGY BIOGAS - EXTRACTION GAS - NATURAL GAS

S-REMOVAL FROM BIO/NATURAL/EXTRACTION GAS Waterleau has developed a simple, flexible, reliable and high-capacity technology for the desulphurization of extraction and (bio)gas. The BELGAS® scrubber technology uses wastewater or activated sludge from the aerobic wastewater treatment as a washing liquid. The neutral pH range offers important operational advantages compared to other desulphurisation technologies, in terms of both efficiency and costs. Waterleau counts more than 50 BELGAS® scrubbers all over the world.

NECESSITY OF S-REMOVAL Every day individuals and organizations are committed to protect the environment. Many industries invest in sustainable development and look for solutions to reduce their water, energy and carbon footprint as well as S-emissions into the atmosphere. The production of biogas from the anaerobic digestion of wastewater or biomass combines energy recovery while reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. However, the sulphur compounds in gases cause odour, corrosion and SOx emissions after combustion. Untreated biogas generally contains high levels of sulphur and therefore removal is required to protect the equipment. On a local scale sulfur is extremely odorous, which can create problems with local governments and cities inhabitants. In high concentrations, it can even be toxic. Sulphur is a major contributor to air pollution. Desulphurization of biogas will increase life duration of combustion engines while reducing running costs. Waterleau‘s proprietary BELGAS® scrubber technology is a low CAPEX and OPEX desulphurization technology for gas treatment.

BELGAS® SCRUBBER Waterleau’s state of the art BELGAS® scrubber is the most robust and efficient sulphur removal system available on the market. Contrary to other sulphur removal techniques, Waterleau’s BELGAS® scrubber technology works with a neutral pH and will produce no excess material. Odour is reduced completely, since the BELGAS® scrubber is completely covered. The BELGAS® scrubber uses wastewater or activated sludge (if available from biological wastewater treatment) as a washing medium, making (expensive) chemicals redundant while reducing water costs. The BELGAS® scrubber design has a 95-99% S-removal efficiency, up to 99,5 %
