Welcome to a new generation of Dimensions and Tools. This addon is written by Kikimora and supported by Rift Dream Dimensions. Dimensions Tools is made to help all Dimension builders in the making of your wonderful creations. As a dimension builder myself and LUA programmer I loved using Dimension Tools but with my keen interest in programming I had to see if I could implement new features and clean up old ones, With dedication I made the language my own and started on the basics of the addon, with this as the end result. If you are new to Dimensions please start learning Dimensions by referring to the beginners guide for Dimensions at Rift Dream Dimensions to gain sound knowledge before apply this technical application. Enjoy building with Dtools! Beginners Guide to Dimensions 2.6 Edition: http://riftdreamdimensions.com/?p=6805

Installing Dimension Tools The first part you need to do is getting the addon downloaded and installed.

Where to get Dimension Tools You can get the addon by going to the following websites. http://www.curse.com/addons/rift/ http://rift.curseforge.com/addons/dimension-tools/ http://riftdreamdimensions.com/ Another way to get the addon is thru the Curse Client.

How to install Dimension Tools Manual installation The process below shows you how to install the addon manually. •

Using your favorite browser, download the addon thru one of the links above.

Locate the “download” button on that site.

Open the downloaded zip file with your favorite decompression program. I usually use the program called Winrar for this.

By pressing the “Extract To” button you can extract the addon to a specified directory. You have to locate the Rift/Interface/Addons/ directory. Usually that can be found under “\Users\\Documents\RIFT\Interface\AddOns”

Leave all settings as they are and press “OK” button.

Start Rift and on the character screen press the “ADDONS” button and look if Dimension Tools is in that list.

Using Curse Client If you have Curse Client already installed skip step 1-5 •

Go to http://www.curse.com/

Locate the “Register” button and make an curse account, it is completely free and you will need it later for running the client.

Locate the “client” button, this will take you to the download page for the curse client.

Locate the “Download for PC” button and download the client.

Follow the instructions given by the installation file to install the client to your pc

Start the Curse Client and login with your Curse account.

If first time use it will locate all installed games supported by the Curse Client. If that does not go automatically use the “scan for All Installed Games” button under Tools and then press “Start Scan” Now wait for it to finish.

Locate Rift under “My games and press “Get More Addons” this will give you a list with all rift addons that are on the Curse website.

Go to search and type “Dimension Tools”

Locate the “INSTALL” button and press it. This will install Dimension Tools into the Addons directory from Rift

Start Rift and on the character screen press the “ADDONS” button and look if Dimension Tools is in that list.

A video tutorial about Installing Dimension Toolbox can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDvSDz0s2sM

How to start working with the addon I highly recommend only starting Dimension Tools when you need it. To start Dimension Tools open up your chat and type “/DT”. This will open the main window of Dimension Tools.

On this screen you will find all buttons for the tools that can be used and the stats of the item(s) you select. By dragging any of the windows from Dimension Tools on their Title you can move them to anywhere in your screen to place them to your needs. The Addon will

remember where you put the windows last and keep them at the same location when you login to the game again at a later time. Another command you can type in your chat is “/DT Reset” this will reset all windows to their default locations.

Dimension Tools vs Dimension Toolbox •

Dimension Tools is smaller so you have more room on your screen to see what you are building.

Dimension Tools uses different windows for all of its tools so that you can open and close them when needed.

Dimension Tools has a build in Help function.

Dimension Tools can move, rotate and scale more items at once.

Dimension Tools can copy an item and then paste multiple copies of the item directly from you bags or bank without first needing to put them down in your dimension.

Dimension Tools can load saved sets directly from your bags, bank or both.

Dimension Tools can load multiple copies of a saved set to your dimension with an offset.

Dimension Tools can import sets from a file and export sets to a file to be able to share your sets with friends.

Dimension Tools can work with your old Toolbox sets.

The Basic Tools Help By pressing

you will get a help screen about all the functions of Dimension Tools.

Yaw: Sets the Rotation over the Yaw axis. Pitch: Sets the Rotation over the Pitch axis. Roll: Sets the Rotation over the Roll axis. Absolute: Sets the item(s) Rotation to the exact numbers you put in Yaw, Pitch and Roll. Relative: Rotates the item(s) with the numbers you set in Yaw, Pitch and Roll from the current rotation. So if current rotation is 20 degrees Yaw and you put 20 degrees in the Yaw box it will end up having a rotation of 40 degrees. Rotate: Starts the rotation of the item(s). Reset: Resets the item(s) rotation to Yaw, Pitch, Roll - 0, 0, 0.

A video tutorial about Move Scale & Rotate using Dimension Toolbox can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDvSDz0s2sM

The Advanced Tools Welcome to the meat and bones of Dimension Tools.

Copy & Paste By pressing

you will open up the Copy & Paste Tools window.

You can disable and enable any of the offsets by clicking the selection box in front of the text fields. By doing this you can choose what stats are transferred to the other item(s).

Descriptions: • •

• • • •

Offset X, Y, Z: Sets the offset for the X, Y, Z axis for the item(s) you have selected to transfer the stats to or want to place new in your dimension. Offset Yaw, Pitch, Roll: Sets the rotation offset over the Yaw, Pitch, Roll axis for the item(s) you have selected to transfer the stats to or want to place new in your dimension. Offset Scale: Sets the Scale for the item(s) you have selected to transfer the stats to or want to place new in your dimension. Copy: Copies the stats of the item you have selected. Paste: Pastes the stats of the copied item to the item(s) you have selected or places the new item(s) from your bags or bank in your dimension. Offset multiple items: Makes it possible to paste an offset to all selected items or new items you place. Each time it takes the stats of the last placed item and applies the offset to the next item in row. Can be used to for example create a wall or well designed patterns.

Use New Item: Activates the possibility to place new items from your bags or bank into your dimension. This will I be talking about in another part of this guide.

A video tutorial about Copying & Pasting can be found at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDvSDz0s2sM

With Dimension Tools you will be able to copy an item and paste multiple copies of that item straight from your bags or bank.

Paste new items When you activate the “Use New Item” selection box a new set of options will appear for you. This will change the way copy & paste work. If “Use New Items” is not activated you can copy stats of one item and transfer those stats to a totally different item already placed in your dimension. As soon as “Use New Items” is activated this does not work in that way anymore, it will instead transfer the stats to an exact copy of the item newly placed directly from your bags or bank. The newly placed item does use the offset options you use to determine where exactly it needs to be placed in your dimension. So if the offset options are left blank it will place it on the same place as the copied item, but when you type any number in the offsets it will place the item with the copied stats + the offset numbers.

Bags: Bags Will set it so that only items from your bags are taken to place as new items.

• •

Bank: Bank Will set it so that only items from your bank are taken to place as new items. Both: Both Will set it so that items from both your bags and bank are taken to place as new items. Be aware that it will take at random from bags and bank. This option can be really useful if you do not have enough items in your bags but you know you have some more in your bank, but you cannot summon a banker anymore or just don’t feel like going out of your dimension at that time to pick up some extra items from your bank.

One more option will appear when both “Offset Multiple Items” and “Use New Items” are activated at the same time.

Nr. of Items: Items Here you can say how many copies of the item you copied you want to place in your dimension.

Load & Save Sets By pressing

you will open up the Load & Save Tools window.

Descriptions: • • •

Name (Textbox): Here you type the name for the set you want to save. Save Set: Saves the set to file. Default Sets: Sets Gives you the possibility to load any of the default sets provided by me and the rest of the RiftDreamDimensions team. • Saved Sets: Gives you the possibility to load your own made sets into your Dimensions. • Tbx Sets: Gives you the possibility to load your old Toolbox Sets, explanation on how that works you find later in this tutorial. • Name (Drop box): A list of all the saved items. • Load Set: Loads the selected set into your dimension using items you have selected in your dimension or using items from your bags. • Print Materials: Print out a list of items needed for the selected set. • Load New Items: Makes it possible to load the set using items from your bags. The following items will only be available when Saved Sets or Tbx Sets are activated. • •

Remove Set: Removes the selected set from your saved list (Saved Sets only). Load at original location: If this is selected the set will be loaded with the stats it was originally saved with. Otherwise the set will be loaded close to your current position. Place Multiple Copies Of Set: This activates the possibility to load multiple copies of your set into your dimension and set a X, Y or Z offset between the placed sets. And will only be visible if “Load New Items” is also activated.

Default Sets Even though Rift already has some tools to help you in your building we all develop ways to accomplish certain things. Taking that into mind I have added technical sets that can be loaded into any of my dimension that are game changing and aided in my own builds. These are called Default sets. At this moment there are 3 sets in there that can help you in the creation of circles, domes, rounded stairs or anything else you like that is round. For a detailed description on how these tools work you will be able to find a guide in the near future under: Advanced guide section for Dimension Tools: Tools http://RiftDreamDimensions.com http://RiftDream Dimensions.com

Self Saved Sets & Load multiple copies of set To save sets in Dimension Tools select the items in your dimension and load the set. Like I showed in the previous chapter you can also load the items directly from your bags. A video tutorial about Loading & Saving Sets using Dimension Toolbox can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSOr8wxIFZk

The big difference lays in the fact you can now load multiple copies of your sets at once with an offset.

When you activate “Place Multiple Copies Of Set” you will be prompted with a new set of options. • • • •

Nr. Copies: Copies Lets you set how many copies of the set you want to place in your dimension. X: Sets the X offset. Y: Sets the Y offset. Z: Sets the Z offset.

The offset will always work from the original point the set was saved. The trick here is the “load at original location”. You can also use it when that is not activated, but I would suggest only using the Y offset then to bring the set higher up in your dimension then normally the case. When you do have “load at original location” activated you could use it for example to place down a whole row of nice pillars you designed next to the original one you already had there. And so opening up a lot of possibilities for you to play with.

Tbx Sets Tbx Sets stands for Toolbox sets. For former Toolbox users who already have a list of saved sets you are able to use those with Dimension Tools. The following steps explain how you can use all your older sets within Dimension Tools. •

Locate the tbx.lua File, found under: \Users\\Documents\RIFT\Interface\Saved\\SavedVari ables

Copy the file txb.lua into the same directory.

• •

Rename the new file to tbx_Import.lua Now start up rift and you should have all your old Dimension Toolbox Sets there to load up and place in your dimensions.

Be aware you will not be able to remove any of the set loaded under Tbx Sets, so I highly recommend that before you copy and rename the file go to Dimension Toolbox and delete all sets you don’t want to use in Dimension Tools anymore.

Import & Export Sets The Import / Export Sets window is all about sharing your sets with other friends in the game. The sets will be saved and loaded from a file called: Dimtools_Export.lua The file can be found under: \Users\\Documents\RIFT\Interface\Saved\SavedVariables

Descriptions: • Saved Sets: Sets the first drop box to load your Dimension Tools Sets. • Tbx Sets: Sets the first drop box to load your Toolbox Sets. • • • •

Name (First drop box): Here you can select any of your own saved sets to export to file. Export: Exports the selected set to file. Name (Second drop box): Here you can select any of the sets saved in the export File. Import: Imports the selected set to your own saved sets list and then removes the set from the export file.

To give a set or multiple sets to a friend, you have to export the sets and then logout or type “/reloadui” in the chat to save the file. After that you can send the

Dimtools_Export.lua file located at: \Users\\Documents\RIFT\Interface\Saved\SavedVariables If you received a Dimtools_Export.lua file you have to copy it into the SavedVariables directory found under: \Users\\Documents\RIFT\Interface\Saved\SavedVariables Then start the game and then you can use the import option to get the set or sets in your saved sets. Keep in mind you can NOT copy the file into the directory if you are logged into the game. The game does NOT allow overwriting of files when you are logged in.

Tribal Magic Tribal Magic is the Magic Carpet addon made by AladdinRift integrated into Dimension Tools with only a small adjustment to the items it uses. Instead of using a Ochre Rug you now have a smaller Round Tribal Table to give you more room to look around without seeing the edges of the item you fly on.

Descriptions: • • •

Place: Place places the Round Tribal Table in your dimension for flying. Pick up: up Picks up the Round Tribal Table from your dimension. 0: Levels out the Round Tribal Table, so you can move around on the altitude you currently are.

• •

+1 to +4: Change the angle of the Round Tribal Table. The higher the number the faster you will go up in your dimension. - 1 to - 4: Change the angle of the Round Tribal Table. The lower the number the faster you will go down in your dimension.
