May 6, 2013 Dear Parent/Guardian: I am writing to invite you and your child(ren) to the Albany, NY Affiliate of the National Black Child Development Institute’s Entering the College Zone (ECZ) program on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 9am until 3:00pm at SIENA College, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY. Bus transportation will be available to and from this event. (Schedules for the bus pick up times and locations are listed on the reverse side of this letter). Entering the College Zone is a pre-college program designed for middle & high school students and their parents who might not otherwise know or believe that college can be in their future. The program communicates that early and sustained preparation is the key to attending and succeeding in college. During the event, you and your child(ren) will learn about Financing Your Way Through the College Zone, Accessing College Information by Computer, and Creating a High School Plan with an Eye Towards College. Additionally, students will receive some Basic Tips from High School and College students. We will conclude with a Role Model Luncheon and Keynote Speaker Dr. Marguerite Vanden Wyngaard (Dr.V.), Superintendent, City School District of Albany. During the luncheon you and your child(ren) will have the opportunity to hear from variety of professionals who have succeeded in college and their careers. If you and your child(ren) would like to participate in this event, please complete the attached registration/permission form and email it to [email protected] or mail the application to the address listed above no later than Wednesday, June 5th, 2013. You may also return the application to your child's Guidence Counselor or Home School Coordinator.
