Basic Game Conversion –S2000™ Single Denomination Use the following steps when converting from an S2000™ single-denomination game theme that requires an SS chip with a single paytable (also called an S-Plus™ themed game) to an S2000™ single-denomination game theme with multiple paytables:

Determining The Firmware Version and Active Paytable – S2000™ Single-Denomination Game

1. Record all necessary meter values and option settings.

There are two ways to determine the game chip number (both chips), base chip number, and the currently active paytable on your S2000™ single-denomination game.

2. Use proper ESD protection. 3. Remove old: SS chip Base chip Two game chips (if upgrading to a new program) Reel strips Game glass

Method 1 1. Open main door. 2. Press the operator/test switch located on the front of the processor tray between the fiber optic ports and the six LEDs (see Figure 1 on page 2).

4. Follow with: “Clear chip” the machine – use clear chip procedures to clear RAM and/or EEPROM. 5. Install new: Base chip Two game chips (if upgrading to a new program) Reel strips Game glass (if changing to a new paytable) Multimedia Lite 2 board and SIMM (if needed for specialized game sounds)

3. Partially close main door. (continued on page 2)

7. If RAM/EEPROM was not cleared: Confirm the game/machine options (including key chip options). For in-depth information on game conversions for the S2000™ platform, check the appropriate IGT Game Software manual or contact IGT Training to enroll in the Conversions course, MT601.

13. Close the main door completely to return machine to the regular game play mode.

Confirming the Correct Reel Strips 1. With the correct PAR sheet, based on either the currently active paytable or the paytable to be installed, consult the Physical Reel Strip listing. 2. Lay the reel strips down in any order. NOTE: The number printed at the bottom of the reel strip is the IGT part number. Although part numbers coincidentally may be arranged in sequential order, they are NOT intended to be an indication of reel strip order.

3. Determine that you have the correct strips and arrange the order of the strips by comparing the order of the 22 PAR sheet symbol codes in the Physical Reel Strip listing to the actual 22 reel strip symbols. 4. Install the reel strips into the machine only after confirming the correct order with the PAR sheet. 5. Go to the Reel Strip test listed under Game Tests in the Operator Menu. 6. Compare the entire Virtual Reel Strips listings on the PAR sheet to the results of the Reel Strip test on the machine.

Reel Strip Installation After matching each reel strip to its correct reel, use the following steps to install it to the reel basket:

2

1. Open the main door and power off the machine.

2. Rotate the reel basket until the two index marks on the outer rims of the reel point straight out from the enclosure. Point to Point – June 2003

3. Drape the reel strip down the back side of the reel with the notched end of the reel strip facing toward you.

6. Insert both reel strip edges under the retaining lip on both rims until approximately 3” of the reel strip remain unattached. 7. Remove the paper backing from the adhesive tape on

9. Carefully apply pressure to the outer and under sides of the reel strip at the same time to bond the ends of the reel strip together.

the retaining lip, without attachingthe adhesive tape,

4. Align the notches on both sides of the reel strip with the index marks on both rims of the reel. 5. Insert one edge of the reel strip under the retaining lip of the rim until the notch engages the index tab inside the lip. Repeat the other edge of the reel strip.

then carefully insert the other edge. Make certain the reel strip fits evenly around the rim.

10. Make certain the reel strip fits evenly around the rim. The reel strip should have no depressions or bulges and the rim should not be warped. 11. Repeat Steps 2 through 10 for each stepper reel.

12. Power on the machine. 13. Close main door.

Confirming Correct Reel Strip Installation Most IGT reel strips have one set of notches (see Reel Strip Installation illustration). Occasionally, you will find reel strips with two sets of notches. Here’s a quick way to tell if the reel strips on a machine are installed in the correct position on the reel baskets: Games With Alternating Graphic Symbols and Blanks on Reel Strips 1. Go to the Reel Strip test listed under Game Tests in the Operator Menu. 2. After the machine automatically spins the reels, inspect the reels to ensure that the horizontal seam on each reel strip is positioned directly behind the central payline. 3. Reposition reel strip(s) if the horizontal seam is not positioned directly behind the central payline.

Games With 22 Graphic Symbols on Reel Strips 1. Go to the Reel Strip test listed under Game Tests in the Operator Menu. 2. After the machine automatically spins the reels, verify that the first graphic symbol* (just below the horizontal seam on each reel strip) is positioned directly behind the central payline, with the payline bisecting the symbol horizontally directly through the middle. 3. Reposition reel strip(s) if the first graphic symbol is not positioned directly behind the central payline. * Verify the correct first graphic symbol by following the Physical Reel Strip listing of the appropriate PAR sheet.

Confirming Glass Paytables With Firmware Paytables Use the following steps to confirm that the game glass (with paytable listings) matches the currently active paytable: 1. Go to the Paytable Test (under Game Test in the Operator Menu). Point to Point – June 2003

2. Test one example of each winning combination displayed on the glass. This includes such scenarios as Wild Card symbols and multipliers, and their effect on winning combinations.

Technical Training (formerly known as IGT University®) and Systems Training (formerly known as Gaming Systems University™) are now included under the umbrella of IGT Training. Each group has a new name but you can rest assured that students still receive the same great instruction, up-to-date information, and hands-on training. Under the Systems Training group, instructors teach every aspect of the gaming systems developed by IGT – EZ Pay™ Ticket System, IGS™ software (including the Table Touch™ and Data Management Module™ applications), and the SMART System Solution®. System Training offers both degree and certification programs. Technical Training courses cover everything from basic machine training to highly complex board soldering classes, and everything in between. What’s more, specially designed classes for non-technical students are also a part of the curriculum. Courses for both Systems Training and Technical Training are available at many U.S. and international locations – often at local IGT field offices or customer gaming properties. For more information on class schedules and enrollment procedures, or any other aspect of IGT Training, log on to www.igttraining.com.

Clear Chips

6. Return the processor tray to the machine.

Vision Series® and S2000™ Machines

7. Power on the machine and observe the LEDs located on the processor tray.

Clear chips are used to clear RAM (IVC00096), or RAM and EEPROM (IVC00096). Clearing only the RAM erases all noncritical accounting, history, and event information from the machine. Clearing the RAM and EEPROM resets all machine and game set-up parameters to the default settings and all meters to zero values.

8. When the two highest (upright machine) or two rightmost (slant-top machine) amber LEDs remain constantly lit, the Clear chip has, depending on the chip used, cleared all RAM, or all RAM and all EEPROM. (See chart below to interpret LED indicators.) 9. Power off the machine.

Use the following steps to clear RAM, or RAM and EEPROM during a game conversion:

10. Remove processor tray. Replace the clear chip with desired new base chip.

1. Check to see that there are no tilts, credits available, or games in progress on the machine.

11. If required, remove old game chips and replace with new game chips.

2. Record all necessary meter values and game/ machine option settings.

12. Return the processor tray to the machine and power on the machine.

3. Open the main door and power off the machine.

13. If RAM and EEPROM were cleared, set the game/ machine options (including key chip options) to the desired settings. If only RAM was cleared, verify that the game/machine options (including key chip options) are set to the desired settings.

4. While using proper ESD protection, remove the processor tray. 5. Remove the old base chip (U21) and replace it with the clear chip.
