How to Access Banner Training Website • Two Ways to Get to Benchmarks • Type in: • From PVAMU Home Page

From Prairie View Home Page • Click ‘Business Affairs’

• From the menu on the left side, click ‘Benchmarks’

From Benchmarks Website • On left sidebar, click ‘Banner PROD’

• Under Self-Service Banner (SSB), click ‘PreProduction Database [STAGE]’

Banner Production Log-In • Same location as SIS

Login Assistance • Click “Enter Secure Area”

Entering Training Advisor User ID and PIN

College Assigned Training Numbers are available through the BEST All PINs set to: 111111

Logging In for the first time • For STAGE type in XX twice (remember STAGE refreshes nightly)

• In PROD once answered it will not display again

ID Selection

Query Assistance • Enter partial first and/or last names • Helps if you do not recall a portion of name • Example: Student’s last name starts with “Wil” • Type in ‘Wil%’ and click submit

Query Outcome • Banner will show students that meet the criteria in a menu • Once you find the desired student name, click it and press ‘Submit’

Student Training Records • Note when you select the student, you are returned to the Student Information Menu • Test Students Name Search: Training% • Student PINS set to: 000000

• Student Information contains basic information about classification, major, etc. • Student Address and Phone information

Helpful Tips on Searching • You can use the ‘CTRL’ button to select more than one subject area as seen here: Before selecting each subject, press the ‘CTRL’ button. To deselect an item, press ‘CTRL’ again, and click that item

Using you mouse, highlight the first subject (see example: Accounting) Using the scroll bar, highlight the next subject while pressing the CTRL key (see example: Biology) Select any other search criteria Results will display for the select subjects

Section Listings

Capacity – Maximum enrollment for section Actual – Current enrollment in section Remaining – Available enrollment for section

Select Column • To select a course, click the box in the ‘Select’ column • The ‘C’ in the Select column means that the course is closed

Registering Process • Once you select a course you have options:

Click ‘Register’ if you want to add the class to their schedule

Or, you could click ‘Add to Worksheet’ to add more than one class

Worksheet • From worksheet, you may press ‘Class Search’ to look for more CRNs or ‘Submit Changes’ to add courses from the worksheet to the schedule • Either of the two options will save CRNs • The ‘Reset’ button will clear the worksheet

Already Selected Courses • When a student is already registered for a course or has selected it in their worksheet there is a blank area in the ‘Select’ column which will not allow you cannot reselect that course NOTE: THERE IS NO BOX TO SELECT CLASS

Additional Search Tip • May enter partial course number • Place a ‘%’ after the initial criteria • Example: Course number starts with “1” • Type in ‘1%’ and click ‘Class Search’

Prerequisite/Co-requisite

Options: 1.

Begin search for a different course

Utilize the Registration and Special Approval form and seek override approval and registration by the department head owning the course

Verifying the Prerequisite or Corequisite Issue 1.

Go to back to Class Schedule Search and identify the course

2.

Click on the CRN (Note the different color than the other text. Place the mouse pointer over the CRN and the text is underlined indicating that further information can be found by clicking

After selecting the CRN, the Class Schedule Listing appears. Select the course title (note color difference)

Pre-Requisite or Corequisite information appears at the bottom of the page

Special Permission Required

Time Conflict

Begin search for a different section of the course or select another available course

Utilize the Registration and Special Approval form and seek registration by the dean of the course for which time will have to be made up

Utilize the Registration and Special Approval form and seek override approval from the Dean of the student’s college
