ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Check that the mains to which the machine is connected is earthed in accordance with current safety regulations and that the power point is in good condition. Connect a plug in compliance with safety rules to the end of the mains cable of the machine, checking that the yellow/ green protective conductor is fitted into the relative terminal marked. Check that the polarity of the motor is correct by verifying that the blade turns in the direction indicated by the arrow found on the machine casing. If it does not, invert two of the plug’s phase conductors. Remember that there should be a magnetothermic protective device fitted upstream of the mains to protect all the conductors from short circuits and overloads. This protective device should be selected according to the electrical features of the machine listed below: In case of voltage failure in the system, you can wait for the connection to be restored without danger of hazardous conditions. In fact, the electric panel is equipped with a reset function which prevents the machine from restarting automatically. WARNING: Never change the overload cutout setting to avoid overloads which could damage the motor circuits and other mechanical members. 2.3

3

POSITION/WORK STATION

The machine must be placed in an area where there is no danger of fire or explosions, where there is good air recirculation and where there is no high degree of humidity, and where there is a temperature ranging between 5°C and 45°C. WARNING: Check that the floor is perfectly level and has the capacity load necessary for bearing the weight of the machine.

Secure the sawing machine to the floor with the relevant tie bars (not supplied) after having marked the boundary of the machine action area (2 metres over the entire perimeter of the sawing machine) with chains and after having painted yellow and black stripes on the ground.

WARNING: The tensioning device is equipped with a safety microswitch which prevents the machine from operating till the blade is tensioned correctly. 3.2

BAR STOP (Fig. 4)

Use the bar stop supplied if you have to do several cuts on pieces of the same length. In this way you do not have to repeat the same measurement each time. Before adjust the bar stop, be sure the main switch is in 0 position. Mount rod A in the hole in the base and lock it with dowel B; slacken the handwheel C and place the stop D at the correct distance from the blade. Tighten handwheel C again. 3.3

CUTTING ANGLE (Fig. 6)

The machine can cut with angles ranging from 0° to 60°. Loosen handle A on the bed to release rotation of the body (Fig. 5-6). Turn the machine body to the left until it stops at the factorycalibrated position of 60°. STANDARD VICE VERSION To get the stop calibrated at 45°, move pin D (Fig. 5) towards the rotating support. Put it back in the initial state to deactivate it. MOVING VICE VERSION In addition to being able to achieve a 60° slant to the left, the moving vice gives you the chance to achieve a slant of up to 45° to the right by releasing the rotating support with handle A on the bed (Fig. 6). For all other inclinations, match the mark of the rotating support and the corresponding position on the plate. 3.4

CUTTING SPEED (Fig. 3)

The sliding blade guide D with integrated safety attachments that your sawing machine is equipped with allows you to make the cut while always keeping the necessary part of the blade guided, and to fully protect the part not used in the machining. Loosen handle E and slide the blade guide D so as to bring it in close or move it away from the piece to be cut, as shown in the figure. WARNING: If this adjustment is not done, a portion of blade not needed for the machining remains uncovered, which could create a residual risk of coming into contact with it, in addition to jeopardizing the quality of the cut.

SEMIAUTOMATIC VERSION (Fig. 8) When turned on, the equipment is in the stop state with all functions OFF except for the coolant, which will be in the state it was when turned off. The manual/automatic function will be set up in advance in manual mode and the speed in m/min will be shown on the display (at that time at zero). The only operations possible are to select whether or not to use the coolant during future machining, with the display and/or programming of the parameters managed via display. The cycle must necessarily start by pressing the START button, which will start the hydraulic power unit. At this point (still in manual mode) you can start the vice and/or raise and lower the blade by pressing the relevant buttons. By switching to the automatic function (M button), you will get the 1st speed exit control (with the blade starting at the programmed speed). The vice closing exits and body descents will operate in continuous mode, and if arranged beforehand, you will have activation of the coolant exit (E button). To arrange the coolant exit with every operation of the cutting cycle in advance, press coolant button E and automatic function button M simultaneously for at least two seconds while the cycle is in operation.

11

EN

Your sawing machine is equipped with a blade cooling system controlled by a motor pump A positioned inside the tank. Before operating the machine, prepare 18 litres of a 10% oil-water emulsion by pouring directly the necessary oil into the water with a temperature not lower than 10 degrees. Agitate the mixture thoroughly and pour it in the pump tank B. Do not operate the machine without coolant to avoid damage to the blade.

If the machine suddenly stops after numerous consecutive cuts, do not be alarmed. The heat protector device of the motor has been activated, breaking the power supply when the temperature of the coils reaches the threshold limit defined by the insulation class, to prevent damage to the motor. In this case, release the button A (Fig. 3) and wait for automatic reset which usually takes place after a few minutes.

The operation in progress will continue until the low blade limit switch is actuated, and can be stopped only with the stop button. During this phase the operator can change the working speed (inverter), reset the production counter or change the coolant exit state (all other manual buttons are blocked). The blade stops immediately when it arrives on the low blade limit switch, and then there is activation of the high blade exit up to the arrival on the high blade limit switch and after about 2 seconds elapse, the vice opens. The cycle is finished at this point. The LED (M button) turns off and it awaits a new command since the panel returns to the manual control state. Three data can be view on the display (N) alternatively (which can be selected using the shift (E) button): (O LED) blade speed display, (P LED) blade speed programming (inverter) using the buttons (C-D), (Q LED) production counter (increases with every arrival on the low blade limit switch and is reset when its appearance on the display is selected by pressing the reset button for more than one second). You cannot select all of the speed variable values in the standard version, just two fixed values that will appear on the display 35m/min (1st speed) or 70m/min (2nd speed). All of the CE certification rules applicable in the industrial sector are standards of reference.

4.4

REPLACING THE BLADE

When you perform this operation, always wear protective gloves to avoid contact with the teeth of the blade. • make sure that the main switch is on position 0; • turn the handwheel B (Fig. 3) counterclockwise until the tensioning device indicator turns off; • loosen handles D (Fig. 3) to move the sawblade guides E (Fig. 3) as far as they go; • loosen handwheels A (Fig. 9) and remove the safety guard by lifting it from its seat B (Fig. 9); Removing the safety casing activates the safety microswitch which automatically disables the motor. • remove the blade from the guides and flywheels; • insert the new blade first between the guides, and then on the flywheels; • tension the blade again; • put the protection guard back on. 4.5

USING THE VICE (Fig. 6)

The manual vices of your sawing machines are equipped with rapid closing so as to allow the slider to conveniently and quickly draw close to the piece to be clamped. To lock the piece to be cut in the vice : • stand in front of the machine; • push lever E upwards to release slider B; • tighten knob C until the slider is resting on the piece to be cut; • lock the piece between the jaws by moving lever E downwards. If you have to cut several pieces from the same bar, all you have to do is release and then re-lock the vice with lever E. If, on the other hand, you have to change the bar, first release lever E and then turn knob C anti-clockwise. 4.6

CORRECT POSITIONING OF THE PIECE IN THE CLAMP (Fig. 5)

The pieces to be cut should be fitted directly between the jaws F without adding other objects. WARNING: Never hold the pieces to be cut in your hand.

4.3

RUNNING IN THE BLADE

To obtain the best performance, the bi-metal blades fitted on your sawing machine must be run in for a short period. For this reason the first two or three cuts should be done where possible on a solid piece Ø 70-80 mm, using a very slight pressure on the blade, and gradually increasing pressure in subsequent cuts. To gauge the correct pressure in normal operating conditions defined by this manual (see cutting table), consider for example that the first cut on solid steel (eg. C40) Ø 80 mm should be done in about 5 minutes. After running-in, the same piece may easily be cut in about 2 minutes. If the running-in process is done correctly, the finish and precision of the cut will be of better quality and the blade will last longer.

12

When the pieces to be cut are profiled sections, flat pieces or special shapes, refer to the examples shown in the figures. If the thickness of the profiled section is to be very thin, an outline should be fitted which copies the profile inside the profiled section itself to stop it being crushed between the jaws.

DISPOSAL OF THE MACHINE, PACKING AND EMULSION

At the end of the machine life, if the machine must be scraped, contact an authorised waste disposal centre in order to comply with the Standards for hygiene and environment safeguard. The packing must be disposed of according 2002/96/EC to the ruling standards by delivering it to authorised people for the collection, disposal or reclaim. The recovered refrigerating emulsion can not be disposed of in the environment since according to the governing laws it is classified as special waste and as such must be delivered to people that are authorised to effect the collection, stocking and disposal. Please contact the ASSOCIATION OF USED OILS near to you.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM

RECOMMENDED REMEDY

Slant imprecise

Turn the adjustment dowels

Overdue or insufficient emulsion

Check the fluid level inside the tank, and that the coolant hoses are not clogged or that the cock is not closed.

Distorted cut

Check the state of the bearings, that the slider has been positioned close to the piece to be cut, that the blade is of good quality, and check that the blade is tensioned using the special indicator lamp. Lastly check the vertical position of the blade with a surveyor’s cross placed on the surface of the vice.

Blade breakage

If it occurs close to the welding, it is a defective blade; if it occurs on the back of the blade, check the cutting parameters.

Teeth breakage

Check all of the cutting parameters, reduce the cutting pressure, reduce the descent speed and increase the blade rotation speed.

Premature blade consumption

Check the cutting parameters, increase the cutting pressure, increase the descent speed and reduce the blade rotation speed.

The head does not move

Check that the LEDs of the connectors turn on and that the fuses are serviceable. Check that the LEDs of the connectors turn on and that the fuses are serviceable. Check the overload cutout

The vice does not lock/release The power unit motor does not run
