1.

Purpose of the call and general regulations

1. This call regulates the procedure for enrolment in the first year of the Philosophy, International Studies and Economics Bachelor’s degree programme of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, for AY 2016/2017. 2. Once you have successfully enrolled in your degree programme, you will not be able to suspend your studies in order to enrol on another course or participate in inter-university or inter-faculty transfers until the following academic year. 3. Personal information provided by candidates will be processed, on paper or in electronic form, in compliance with current legislation (Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003). 4. Candidates shall be guaranteed access to the records concerned, in accordance with Italian Law 241/1990 and subsequent amendments. 5. You are advised to carry out the enrolment procedures well before the deadlines for admission to the degree programme concerned. The University declines all responsibility for eventual malfunctioning due to technical problems and/or failure to connect due to excess traffic and/or system overload, or for any operational disturbances caused by third parties, unforeseeable circumstances or force majeure.

Available places

1. A total number of 150 places are available for candidates enrolling in the first year of the Philosophy, International Studies and Economics Bachelor’s degree programme. 2. 20 of the total number of places indicated above shall be reserved for non-EU students resident abroad meeting the requirements laid down in the M.I.U.R. guidelines (Reference no. 1291 of 16 May 2008): should application procedures differ, those concerned will be informed by email.

Admission Requirements

1.

To be admitted to the selection procedure, students must have one of the following qualifications: • diploma from an istituto di istruzione secondaria di secondo grado di durata quinquennale (five-year high school) including officially recognised licei linguistici (high school specialising in foreign languages); teachers’ training college certificate or art school certificate with additional one-year course; candidates who have • not attended the additional foundation year may still apply although in case of enrolment, they may have additional Educational Debits that must be met by the end of the first year, along with any Additional Learning Requirements that may have accrued following assessment of their skills according to the procedures laid down for the degree programme concerned; • vocational secondary school certificate gained according to Law 27/10/1969 no. 754; • diploma di maturità d’arte applicata taken at an Istituto statale d’Arte (State Art Institute); • high school qualification taken abroad provided that it is considered equivalent to the Italian qualification for enrolment purposes. 2. I titoli di ammissione must be obtained by the pre-enrolment deadline (10 August 2016). 3. Students wishing to enrol must have certified English proficiency at Level B2 or above. A list of recognised English certificates and cases of exemption can be found on the relevant web page (www.unive.it/conoscenze-linguistiche).

Admissions procedure After checking that you have correctly completed all the stages in the online pre-enrolment procedure you must pay the €26 pre-enrolment fee by 12 noon on 10 August 2016. Applications submitted after the deadline or failing to comply with the procedures laid down here will not be taken into consideration.

4.1.

Online pre-enrolment

a) Pre-enrolment must be carried out online on the university website from 1 July 2016 to 12 noon on 10 August 2016. The online procedure involves two stages:

registration on the university website (www.unive.it/registrazione) by entering your personal data, residence, and, eventually, domicile. After completing the registration procedure, you will be given a user name and password that , from the following day, will give you access to your Personal Area to complete the next stage of enrolment;



enrolment in the admission test, by going to the Personal Area in www.unive.it and following this page sequence: Online Student Services - ESSE3 > Admission test. During the course of this procedure candidates must:

indicate the degree programme for which they wish to take the test; enter information relative to their qualifications; indicate that they have certification showing English language proficiency at Level B2 or above. If you do not have certification, you must undertake to obtain it before enrolment in your degree programme; select the button to pay the pre-enrolment fee (see section 4.2.);

print the receipt in order to participate in the test. The pre-enrolment procedure will not be completed until you have printed the receipt. c) If you already have access credentials (for example, if you are an alumnus of Ca' Foscari or have already pre-enrolled in another selection procedure), you should skip the first stage. d) After you have completed the online procedure, an email will be sent to the email address you entered during the registration stage to confirm that enrolment in the test has been carried out properly. e) If you encounter difficulties during the pre-enrolment procedure, just send an email asking for help to [email protected]

4.2.

Pre-enrolment fee

a) The payment function will be activated once you have completed the online pre-enrolment procedure: you will see a “Payment” button allowing you to choose your preferred payment method. b) The €26 pre-enrolment fee must be paid online after you have completed the online pre-enrolment procedure (see point a) above): • using a Visa or Master Card selecting the invoice number; • using the M.O.D code (MAV on demand) that appears when you click on the relevant link: just give this code to the bank clerk in any Italian bank to make this payment. Remember to ask the bank clerk for your payment receipt. c) The above payment methods only are accepted. d) Pre-enrolment fees will not be refunded for any reason whatsoever.

4.3.

Certification of English Proficiency at Level B2 or above

a) Students wishing to enrol must have certification of English Proficiency at Level B2 or above. b) A list of recognised English certificates and cases of exemption can be found on the relevant web page (www.unive.it/conoscenze -linguistiche). d) The admission test does not assess whether candidates have English Proficiency at Level B2 or above. e) f)

Eligible candidates who do not have a B2 English certificate must ensure that they obtain certification prior to enrolment. Eligible candidates must upload recognised Level B2 English certification during the enrolment procedure.

4.4. Accommodations for candidates with disabilities or candidates with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) a) The test held by the University will take into account the individual needs of disabled candidates in compliance with Italian Law No. 104 of 1992 and subsequent amendments and of students with SLD in compliance with Italian law No. 170/2010. b) Candidates with disabilities or SLD wishing to have special test arrangements made should make their request in advance, including the necessary certifications. Applications will be evaluated based on the documents presented. In particular:



candidates with disabilities may take the admission test using the necessary accommodations and with additional test time in relation to their specific disability;

• c)

candidates with SLD (see Italian law No.170/2010) may request additional test time. In cases of certified severe disability further accommodations may be made to ensure that all candidates have equal opportunities in taking tests. Candidates may make a request for special arrangements during the on-line pre-enrolment procedure:

specifying the type and percentage of disability/condition involved; mentioning any additional information with regard to the specific arrangements required; enclosing certification/diagnosis as evidence of their disability/condition, preferably in pdf format. 3

d) In order to facilitate matters, candidates requesting special arrangements are advised to submit their request for special arrangements by 5 August 2016.

5.

Admission test

1.

The test consists of 80 multiple-choice questions in English, will last 80 minutes and is designed to assess: • comprehension of one or more topical texts: 30 questions; • general knowledge: 30 questions; • logical skills: 10 questions; • aptitude to learn foreign languages: 10 questions; 2. The following scoring system is used: 1 point for a correct answer; 0 points for no answer; -0.33 points for an incorrect answer. 3. A test simulator can be accessed on www.unive.it/cdl/lt6 by selecting Iscriversi>Test d’accesso.

6.

Admission test process

6.1.

Venue and times

a)

The admission test check-in is scheduled for 15.00 pm on Friday 26 August 2016.

b) The Venice test will be held in the San Giobbe campus (Cannaregio 873, Venice) in the classroom indicated on the preenrolment receipt.

6.2. a)

Test day documents

Candidates are required to bring a photocopy of a valid form of ID (such as an ID card, passport or driver’s license);

Test rules

a) Candidates may not take the test once the test has started. b) During the test candidates may only communicate with invigilators; they shall not either speak or communicate with other test takers. Candidates are not allowed to take bags, books or notes, paper, cell phones, calculators or other electronic devices to their desks, and must leave them at the table of the Test Committee before the start of the test. Any candidates discovered in possession of such objects will be excluded from the test. Invigilators will be present in the classroom during the test to ensure that these rules are respected. c) Candidates must remain in the classroom for the entire duration of the test. d) Failure to follow the instructions given prior to the start of the test will lead to cancellation of the candidate's test.

7.

Shortlist

1. The candidates will only be eligible for shortlisting if they have successfully pre-enrolled in the admission test, following the procedures described in Art.4 above. 2. The merit shortlist is drawn up exclusively on the basis of the scores obtained in the test. In the case of candidates with the same scores, precedence will be given to the candidate with the highest high school diploma score. In the case of a further tie, precedence will be given to the younger candidate. 3. The shortlist will be published on 2 September 2016 starting from 12 noon on the university website (www.unive.it), following page sequence www.unive.it/cdl/lt6 > Iscriversi> Esiti valutazioni. The University will not contact candidates either in writing or by telephone.

8.

Place acceptance and shortlist review

8.1. General principles a) The procedure allows for the enrolment of successful candidates and two subsequent shortlist reviews to allocate any places still available. b) Candidates failing to enrol within the deadlines and according to the procedures established by this article will lose the right to enrol. c) Any places reserved for non-EU students resident abroad that remain vacant will be exclusively allocated to non-EU students resident abroad.

8.2. Enrolment of successful candidates a) Successful candidates must enrol on their degree programme from 2 to 7 September 2016 according to the procedures laid down in Art. 9. b) Successful candidates who do not accept their place according to the procedure laid down will be considered as having withdrawn. c) Any places becoming vacant after a candidate has withdrawn shall be offered to the next eligible candidate according to the review procedure described below.

8.3. Review procedure a) On 12 September 2016 at 12 noon an announcement will be published on the University website indicating the number of places still available along with a shortlist of eligible candidates who may accept a place. b) From 12 noon of September 2016 to 15 September 2016 eligible candidates may accept their place and enrol in accordance with the procedures described in Art. 9 below. c) At 6 pm on 9 September 2016 an announcement will be published on the University website indicating the number of places still available along with a shortlist of eligible candidates who may accept a place. d) From 20 September 2016 to 12 noon of 22 September 2016 eligible candidates may accept their place – in order of shortlist ranking – by enrolling according to the procedures described in Art. 9. e) On 26 settembre 2016 at 6 pm an announcement will be published on the University website indicating the number of places still available and the review procedure for eligible candidates until all vacant places have been allocated.

8.4. Withdrawal a) Successfully shortlisted candidates who do not accept their place according to the above procedure will be considered as having withdrawn.

9.

Enrolment

9.1. Enrolment procedure a) b)

In order to enrol you must follow the enrolment procedure below. The enrolment procedure involves two steps:

payment of first instalment of university tuition fees;

by bank transfer made out to Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia and using the following codes: IBAN: IT50 S 05034 02071 000000014150 SWIFT (for bank transfers from abroad): BAPPIT22

Providing the following details as reference for the payment: name of degree programme, tax code, name and surname. d) Compilation of online enrolment application in accordance with Art. 8: enter the Personal Area in the website using your Username and the password that you were given after completing the registration then select Enrolment on Limited Admission Degree Programme within the Online Students Services area. After selecting your chosen degree programme, you will be required to upload a passport-sized photograph in jpg format along with the following documentation:

copy of a valid ID (front and back);



students with qualifications obtained abroad should upload original high school diploma translated into one of the four EU languages (English, French, Spanish or German) and then legalised (Apostille) by the Italian Diplomatic Representative located in the country of the institution that awarded the certificates; Dichiarazione di Valore or, if available, a Diploma Supplement (also applies to Italian students who have obtained their qualifications abroad);

non-EU students resident in Italy are required to upload a copy of their permit of stay;

copy of the payment receipt for the first instalment of your tuition fees; copy of certification showing English language proficiency at Level B2; students with a disability of 66 per cent or over, who are entitled to exemption from their university tuition fees, or with a disability between 50 and 65 per cent, who are entitled to a reduction, must upload their disability certificate;

any other documents relevant for enrolment; The payment of the first instalment has to be completed within the enrolment deadlines given in Art. 8 above.

f) No refunds will be made of the first instalment of university tuition fees once paid and once your enrolment has been finalised. g) Non-EU students resident abroad and students with qualifications obtained abroad must enrol according to the deadlines laid down in Art. 8 contacting the Welcome desk ([email protected]) to find out about the enrolment procedures.

9.2. Finalisation of enrolment a) Completion of enrolment application and payment of the first instalment of your fees do not automatically lead to finalisation of your enrolment, which will be carried out by the Enrolment Office and communicated to you by email.

Transfers, Course changes, Credit transfer You may not transfer to other universities or faculties during the first year of your degree programme. 5
