Information technology and telecommunications are becoming increasingly important to the economic cycles and daily running of businesses and organisations. That’s why the purpose of the multidisciplinary Bachelor’s study programme Business Information Systems of the Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) is to connect basic scientific content with methods of disciplines such as Business Information Systems, Business Administration, Social Science, Law and Economics.

With around 10 000 students the Berlin School of Economics and Law is a large advanced educational establishment for applied science located in Germany‹s capital. It is characterized by a marked practical orientation, by intensive and varied research, high quality standards and a strongly international orientation. The subjects offered embrace private and public Economic Management, Administrative Management, Law Management and Security Management, as well as Engineering Science in more than 50 courses of study. Almost all courses of study have been adapted to Bachelor and Master certificates, have been checked for quality and bear the seal of the accrediting body.

Special emphasis is put on theoretical substantiated, methodical aligned and practice-oriented education. Furthermore students are trained in communication and team skills. Graduates of the study programme Business Information Systems receive with their Bachelor’s degree an internationally recognized qualification. This opens the path to jobs in business, and also allows for continuing education. They are thus well prepared for entry into business and administration, and are capable of working responsibly on the conception, planning and introduction of complex IT projects in such environments. Classes take place in German as well as in English. Be it a semester abroad or an internship in a foreign country, the BSEL supports its students fully in their choice.

At the Berlin School of Economics and Law students find an intercultural and practice-oriented learning environment. Small study groups ensure a quick response to individual learning requirements. The seminar and lecture rooms are equipped with modern media. Extensive libraries and digital workplaces are available. An international alignment enriches campus life. The Berlin School of Economics and Law currently maintains around 160 active partnerships with universities on all continents and is a member of »UAS7 – Alliance for excellence«. Students of this programme benefit from the membership in the academic programmes Oracle Academic Initiative, SAP University Alliance Program, Microsoft University Alliance Program, Sybase University Alliance Program, SUN Academic Alliance.

Programme structure The Bachelor’s study programme has a First and a Second Section. The sixth semester during the Second Section is a practical semester, which can be taken abroad.

Qualification After successfully completing the study programme, the student is awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) by the Berlin School of Economics and Law. Graduates of the study programme receive their first jobqualification degree which is internationally recognised. Corresponding to their qualification they also have the possibility of gaining the academic degree of Master of Science (M. Sc.) by then going on to pass a Masters study programme.

Fee There are no tuition fees on this programme as it is funded through public grants. Students are required to pay a semester fee. The semester fee includes a contribution to the Studentenwerk Berlin, the student representative body as well as the enrolment and administration fee and a semester season ticket for the local public transport systems.
