WASHING GUIDELINES • Always follow the washing instructions on the label of the towel/bed linen. By adhering to recommended washing instructions you will guarantee long-term enjoyment of your Christy products. • Ensure that you use the recommended amount of washing detergent. Take care not to expose your towels/bed linen to neat detergent prior to washing. • Select a gentle laundry detergent. Many modern detergents contain bleach or whitening agents. Ideally these should not be used when washing coloured towels/ bed linen as they may progressively fade the colour. Using a detergent designed for colours will ensure your towels/bed linen retain their colour for many years. • Limit the use of fabric conditioner on your towels. Whilst they give your towels a soft feel, overuse of conditioner leaves a coating on the towels and reduces the absorbency. • When the wash cycle has finished remove bed linen promptly from the machine and shake out whilst damp to minimise creasing and drying time. • For best results tumble dry your towels on a gentle heat. This will give your towels the softest finish and help reduce creasing. Do not tumble dry your bed linen for longer than necessary, line dry where possible. • Iron your bed linen whilst still slightly damp: it’s easier! In the event that bed linen has been over dried, use a water spray to dampen fabric before ironing. • Pulled threads on towels occur when loops catch on sharp objects. Do not pull loose threads - simply cut them off. Christy towels are woven so threads won’t run. To prevent pulled threads avoid washing towels with other garments, which have hooks or zips. COLOUR ADVICE Bleach will remove the colour from your Christy towels/bed linen permanently. Avoid contact with surface or bathroom cleaners. • Some facial cleansers and skin treatments contain Benzoyl Peroxide, which has the same effect as bleach. The effect that these products have on your towels/bed linen may not be apparent until after washing. Christy suggest keeping a separate towel when using these products as Benzoyl Peroxide is water insoluble, so may still have the same effect even after thoroughly rinsing your hands and face. • Separate light and dark coloured towels/ bed linen, as you would with other items. With darker and brighter colours you may

find that some excess dyes wash out during the first few washes. UNDERSTANDING FIBRE TYPES THREAD COUNTS Thread count is a measure of the quality of the fabric and refers to the number of threads used per square inch of fabric. The higher the count, the higher the quality. GSM GSM stands for “grams per square metre”. It is the way weight is measured in a towel. The higher the GSM the higher the thickness of the towel. A higher GSM is associated with a more luxurious towel. However if you have a busy household where quick drying time is a priority you may look for a lower GSM which results in a quicker drying time. Christy towel ranges that have a lower GSM are designed to give the same soft feel as a high GSM towel but without the heaviness of a luxury product. BLENDS In some bed linen, Christy have used blends of two fibres, for example cotton and linen. The combination of fibre types adds individual properties to the bed linen. Specific features within these blends include slubs in linen and silk which are natural characteristics of these fibres and add to the beauty of these products. COTTON PERCALE This is made from high quality cotton with a thread count of 180 or more. Percale bed linen looks matt and feels crisp to touch. Percale launders beautifully, is long lasting and durable. EASY CARE Easy care is a finish added to the fabric. This finish makes fabrics easier to launder and require less ironing. Easy care finishes do gradually wash out over time.

HYGRO® TECHNOLOGY Hygrocotton is a unique cotton fibre which has a hollow core. The fibre traps air so that wash after wash and tumble dry after tumble dry the towels become lofty and fluffy. SUPIMA® COTTON Supima Cotton produces one of the finest cotton yarns in the world with its extra long fibres giving a luxurious, silky handle. Supima Cotton is a brand of cotton that is regulated by Cotton USA ensuring a consistently high quality finish. PIMA COTTON Pima Cotton is an extra long staple cotton that is soft and absorbent and produces a fabric with similar properties to luxurious Egyptian Cotton. EGYPTIAN COTTON Egyptian Cotton, know the world over for its superior quality, is grown only in specific areas of the Nile Delta where it has been cultivated for centuries for its unique properties.

This symbol indicates that your bed linen can be machine washed. The number represents the temperature that Christy recommends to achieve the best results.

This symbol indicates that bleach should not be used when laundering the Christy product, not even on white towels or bed linen. The chemicals in bleach seriously damage fabric.

COTTON SATEEN Woven in a special construction, to produce bed linen with a sophisticated sheen that feels luxuriously soft and smooth against the skin.

This indicates whether or not you can dry clean an item. Christy do not recommend dry cleaning their towels or bed linen. However some of our accessories such as throws and cushions may require dry cleaning.

SILK Natural variations and slubs are unique characteristics of all types of silk fabric. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight as this will cause colour fading.

COTTON There are a variety of different cotton plants each of which have their own traditional growing areas. The climate and growing conditions in these areas produce cotton with different characteristics. The most important of these characteristics is the length and fineness of the individual fibres, the longer and finer it is, the softer, smoother and more lustrous the yarn will be.
