August 2016 Project Update Overall Referendum Project Status: ON SCHEDULE/ON BUDGET All elements of the project completed to date have been completed on schedule and final costs were under the anticipated budget and contingency totals. All referendum work at Deerfield High School has been completed, including the new pool and gymnasium, library, elevator addition, and interior renovations. At Highland Park, remaining work at the pool addition and B Building renovations are underway. The C Building addition and all renovations in A Building have been completed. The current estimate for all projects indicates the overall cost of the project is on budget at $114 million (the $89 million referendum amount plus $25 million in District contributions), with nearly $1 million remaining in unallocated funds. Approximately $5.9 million in facility improvements and life safety costs for work outside the referendum are being completed; funding is being provided through other District funds. Design Status: The design for all projects is complete. Construction Work Completed: Deerfield High School  Summer 2014 Renovations o The Q-Hall and partial E-hall renovations are complete.  Site Utilities and Site Improvements o All site work, including underground utilities and reconfiguration of the parking lots and sidewalks to accommodate the new additions is complete. The relocated tennis courts, discus and shot put facilities are complete.  PE Additions o The new gymnasium and pool additions are complete.  Phase 2 o The cafeteria/commons renovation is complete. o The library renovation is complete. o The main entrance elevator addition is complete. o The renovation work in D, E, F, G, I and J Hall is complete and was ready for the start of school.  Bleacher Replacement o The Adams field home bleachers replacement project is complete and was ready for use by athletics in early August.  Technology Cabling o Technology cabling installation is complete in I-Hall, J-Hall, K-Hall, M-Hall, P-Hall and R-Hall. The cabling in G-Hall and X-Hall are in progress.  Life Safety o The HVAC work for the IM and Exhibition is complete and was ready for the start of school. Highland Park  Summer 2014 Renovations o The 3rd Floor Building A renovations are complete.







Site Utilities and Site Improvements o All underground utilities and reconfiguration of the parking lots at the North and West parking lots are complete. The only remaining sitework around the pool addition will be completed with the completion of the pool. o The St. Johns & Woodpath crosswalk signal is complete. o The Vine Ave. parking lot work is complete. PE Additions o The new gymnasium addition and locker room renovations are complete. o The new Highland Park pool structure and precast panels have been completed. The excavation and concrete for the pool tank is complete. The installation of the precast plank and concrete slab for the 2nd floor of the classroom/locker room/weight room area is complete. The final structural steel elements and roof installation is in progress. The masonry, overhead mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection are in progress. The installation of pool equipment and piping is in progress. Phase 2 o The A Building 2nd Floor renovation work is complete. o The B Building exterior masonry restoration project is complete. o The C building addition is complete and was ready for the start of school. . o The renovation work at the 1st floor of A Building is complete and was ready for the start of school. o Technology cabling installation at the 3rd Floor of A-Hall, 2nd Floor of A-Hall, and HHall are complete. o Building B The renovation of the 1st Floor is complete and was ready for the start of school. The renovation work at 2nd-4th Floor is in progress. The framing, drywall, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection work are in progress. o Life Safety The masonry repairs and HVAC work for the 3rd floor A building west is complete and was ready for the start of school.

Work In Progress/Upcoming Work: Deerfield  Phase 2 o Technology cabling upgrades will continue during the school year after school hours. The exterior cameras, G-Hall and X-Hall work will continue throughout September.  Life Safety Improvements o The remaining life safety improvements will be completed during breaks and during summer 2017. Highland Park  PE Additions o The installation of the structural steel is nearly complete at the Highland Park pool addition. The gravel backfill and underground plumbing under the pool deck will be complete in September. The remaining roofing is in progress and will continue throughout September. The overhead mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection rough-in work in the pool will be complete September and will be followed by the



painting over the pool. The overhead acoustical panels and fabric ductwork will follow the painting in the pool. The masonry walls, mechanical, electrical and plumbing in the classroom/locker room/weight room area of the addition will continue throughout September. Phase 2 o Phase 2 The flooring at the C Building connections to A Building and B Building is scheduled to be completed over October break. The technology cabling upgrades work will resume once the technology cabling work at Deerfield is complete. o B Building The cooking lab equipment hookup and startup up is scheduled to be complete in September. The 2nd-4th Floor rooms are scheduled to begin painting, ceiling grid, mechanical trim and light fixtures in September. o Life Safety Improvements The remaining life safety improvements will be completed during breaks and over summer 2017.

Potential Neighborhood Impacts/Notices:  Deerfield High School – The construction deliveries and trucking throughout the campus will be significantly reduced now that the construction is substantially complete.  Highland Park High School – The work onsite will require material and equipment deliveries during the day, which will increase traffic at the north and east sides of the campus. The deliveries will continue at the north entrance off St. Johns for the pool and at the east side of the campus off of St. Johns for B Building. Logistics Plan for this current phase work:  Construction areas and access to the sites are being maintained in accordance with the attached plans. Attached is the plan for fall/winter at Highland Park. There is not a logistics plan for Deerfield since construction is substantially complete, however, there will continue to be life safety and technology cabling work completed at Deerfield at times when it does not impact school activities.
