Achievement Days The registration forms, State Fair book and Morton County Guidelines have been sent to each family. Achievement Day registration forms are due Monday, July 7th, half premium is given to the registrations that arrive late to the Morton County Extension office. Please refer to the June 4th memo and the Morton County Guidelines for instructions. Reminders: 4-Hers may bring two (2) exhibits for each project but are limited to one (1) per lot. Duplicate items will not be accepted. Crop Production: Seed and Sheaves should NOT be of the same crop. Ex. If you bring 1 quart of oats, do not bring a sheave of oats from the same crop. Friday, Livestock Achievement Day, 1 per lot. Cloverbuds can bring 2 of whatever they want. Ex. Drawing exhibit and a flower exhibit, a food exhibit and a bead exhibit. The doors of the exhibit/interview judging area will be open only to Horse Exhibitors at 8:30 a.m. General exhibitors will be able to start at approximately 9:00 a.m. Horse exhibitors need to judge first. Your exhibit tags will be sent DIRECTLY TO YOU in late July. Please watch for them. All livestock, horse and pet exhibitors are required to bring their record sheets to the Interview Judge. Record sheets can be left for exhibit or the 4-Her may choose to exhibit another item under this project. Absentee forms can be found at the back of the guidelines. You are responsible for making arrangements for having your projects taken to the correct judge and taken to the exhibit display area. To complete the year, a 4-Her must exhibit at Achievement Days. 4-Hers should have attended six club meetings before exhibiting at Achievement Days. If a 4-Her belongs to more than one club (ex. regular club plus a horse club) the 4-Her must attend four regular club meetings and four workouts. (One workout = 1/2 regular club meetings.) It is up to leaders to manage this.

Please read the Morton County Guidelines. Times are printed in the guidelines.

Remember: You can also enter items into the County Fair. If you want registration forms and rules, call us and we will send them to you when we receive them.

All goats and sheep, with the exception of market wether goats and sheep, should have their scrapie identification tags. A breed registration tattoo will be accepted in lieu of a scrapie tag for dairy breed goats.

You can find registration papers in the The Finder, local papers or call the office and we can mail you some or you can pick up.

All dairy goats should be dehorned. Starting in 2007 and after; all dairy goat kids should be dehorned. Goats younger than 2 years are to be dehorned. If not, they will be disqualified. Eventually all goats need to be dehorned.

Matthew Smith, Justin O’Neill, Carter Tomac, Tyrza Hoines, Kirsten Presler and some of their friends had a fun time learning about geocaching, GPS and finding treasures. They were able to leave a “travel bug” in a local cache to make its way to new caches. The travel bug was a little train left at the Peter’s Siding cache located at N 46° 26.161, W 099°42.026, which is one of several in the Napoleon area that can be found with coordinates listed on the Web site www.geocaching.com.
