Cats Basketball League

The Kits Basketball League is designed to introduce children to the sport of basketball through the development of the fundamental skills of shooting, dribbling, passing and defense. Fair play, sportsmanship, and teamwork are reinforced during refereed practice and games. We do not keep score in the Kits League. Players are divided up into teams of four after the first few weeks of play and parents are emailed a schedule by the third week. Children participate in half-court games and progress to full-court. Smaller balls and lowered rims are used to help children adapt to the game. The games may be altered to ensure a maximum learning experience. The clinic helps reinforce these skills. BULLS BASKETBALL The Bulls Basketball Leagues for 4th-6th graders begins to prepare players for the Evanston feeder programs and high school play. It continues to focus on skill building and perfecting fundamentals, but adds conditioning, strength training (clinic only), and concepts such as defenses, plays, and positioning. Using the rules of the 4th/5th grade school-based league run in the winter, the league gives players an opportunity to play full-court with substitutions. Our coaches/ referees tighten up on calls, allowing players the opportunity to sharpen their game. Players in the league are divided into different teams each week allowing them to learn to work with different teammates, foster communication on the court, while it challenges everyone to step into a leadership role. We keep standard score in the league, but do not keep standings. The Tuesday league is for boys, while the Friday league is for girls. The clinic is co-ed. No clinic Jan 17.

Athletics Gymnastics General Information: Please call Michelle at 847-448-8681 for more information about gymnastics classes at either Chandler-Newberger Center or Robert Crown Center. Register online or call Chandler-Newberger at 847-448-8252 or Robert Crown Center at 847-448-8258. Registering your child for the appropriate class is the first step to ensuring success and fun with gymnastics. Our beginning classes are for children who have never taken a gymnastic class or who have taken a class for less than one year. Certain skills are necessary before taking the Advanced Beginning and Intermediate classes. If your child has not mastered these skills, he or she will not be able to learn more advanced skills. Your child would then have to switch to a lower level class. If you are unsure if he or she should be in the Advanced Beginning or Intermediate class, please contact Michelle at 847-448-8681 to discuss appropriate placement for your child. Private and group gymnastic lessons may be available for those interested in individualized attention or for those who’ve aged out of certain levels. For more information, call Michelle Tompkins at 847-448-8681.
