FROM THE FOUNDERS: One of the most rewarding things we do as founders is host visitors from the community as they experience Now I Can for the first time. Our guests frequently mention they like the atmosphere and the feeling at Now I Can. They often comment on the compassion and skill of our therapy team. And they are always deeply impressed by the determined and brave children working toward their goals every day. It’s impossible not to be touched by the sweet smiles and spirits of these children! It’s a blessing to witness the brave way they endure the stretching and hard work-and how they thrill in their newly found independence. We love our Now I Can family. That family includes our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors and Advisory Board, donors, and of course the Now I Can patients and their families. Truly, our lives are enriched by each one of you. Now I Can has had an excellent year of growth in 2011, as we celebrated our sixth anniversary. We have seen more patients than in any other year of our existence, given more therapy grant dollars, and started renovating our expanded clinic space in order to serve more children. Of course, the most important measure of our success is seen in tiny ways as children sit, stand and walk—and just get stronger and happier. The milestones we are most proud of are those met in therapy each day by individual children as they win their personal battles--and teach us all every step of the way. Joel and Tracey Christensen

Testimonials “The therapy at Now I Can has been nothing short of lifechanging, and we’ve seen a miracle in watching Grace begin to walk with crutches.Therapists are confident that she will someday walk without the use of any supportive device. She takes a dance class, and at a recent benefit concert (Granger High School) she received a standing ovation after her performance.” -Mother of S.S.

“The intensive therapies offered at Now I Can are helping my daughter be aware of her body, and is helping her learn how to use her muscles and she is getting stronger.” -Mother of S.

Thanks so much for your help with physical therapy. Now I can do things I never thought was possible in this life like walking with more control than ever before. Also my right arm is more relaxed than ever before and I feel like I have more control over it.

Our Story Now I Can is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to helping disabled children reach their greatest potential. Now I Can has combined the most effective methods of physical therapy with the most outstanding therapy team—making our therapy unique and sought after by families across the country. Most clients visit Now I Can for one or more three- or four-week sessions. Now I Can also offers maintenance therapy schedules for our local patients. Studies have shown that one three-week session of intensive therapy helps a child realize the same goals which would normally require one full year of traditional therapy to achieve. Patients with neuromuscular challenges need this focused and intense approach that provides time and support to practice the skills they need to learn—like sitting, standing, and walking. Now I Can’s therapy team is a compassionate group comprised of licensed physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and therapy aides. These individuals have training in NDT, PNF, Sensory Integration, and Feeding and Swallowing Therapy. Additionally, they have extensive experience with neurological disorders and brain injury. Now I Can is pleased to offer financial assistance to those in need through our Ability Fund Scholarship program and the Maggie Brown Scholarship. Through the help of generous private and corporate donors, these funds are growing to better enable us to help more children receive effective therapy, regardless of their ability to pay. While therapy is a long and hard road for most families with special needs children, miracles both large and small occur daily at Now I Can. For example--a four year-

old leaves his crutches behind after three weeks of therapy…an eight yearold takes her first independent steps…a young seizure victim learns to hold his head up and sit independently…a 26 year-old gains more strength and independence than she’s ever had!

Now I Can welcomes children of any age seeking to improve their strength and independence, relieve pain, or recover from injury. Those suffering from cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, traumatic brain injury, or developmental delays all benefit from intensive therapy. Now I Can helps each patient set goals and reach physical milestones that allow them to say, “NOW I CAN!”

Many Thanks
